HONEYMOON IN HAWAII

Hi,

We have booked a 2 wekk honeymoon vaction to hawaii. We have booked a i week cruise on the "Pride of Aloha" After looking at the web site, we feel that we have mage a mistake. We are both 28 years old & looking for feed back. We were looking for something more modern with a big room & bathroom. It will be our first cruise & we are not what to expect. Any feed back??

Anything will do!

It would notbe my choice but some research on cruisecritic.com would be worthwhile.

You can get a "big room and bathroom" on most any ship if you are willing to pay the price.

Definitely go to Cruise Critic and get feedback on that specific ship. I also recommend you really read up on cruising - it is very different from staying in a hotel - whether it's better or worse depends on each person. For Hawaii, I'm a "stay in the different islands for longer periods of time" instead of a cruise, but for Alaska, I'm a "definitely do the cruise thing". Look in detail at the web sites of your cruise line and understand the size of the rooms and the amenities. Cruises are great - sometimes.... and depending on what you like....

I am a travel agent who books all inbound hawaii travel and I have to say you can't believe everything you read on cruise critic. We book NCL a whole lot and never have any complaints about it. It's important to understand that Norwegian cruiseline is very different than other cruiselines. They are home of "freestyle sailing"..no set dinner times, no mandatory formal night etc. You can always get a bigger cabin on the ships..the pride of hawaii is actually the newest biggest NCL ship. however NCL is not one of the luxury cruiselines per say..but it serves its purpose. They are very economical way to travel the hawaiian islands and about as close as you can get to all inclusive hawaii. You will hardly be in your cabin anyways, the ships sail at night while sleeping allowing you full advantage of your time on each island which you will more than likely not be on the ship. I say stick with it, if you want a bigger cabin upgrade to a different cabin..but honestly for the cruise portion you probably won't be in it much , if staying an extra week on an island splurge there for a really nice hotel that would be more worth it and save with the cruise fare. My saying is always that NCL ships sailing hawaii is for people wanting to see many islands in a short period of time with the convenience of having the ship as a hub which is a great way to go....other cruiselines sailing to hawaii are for people who like to cruise with the extra benefit of getting to see hawaii because you aren't going to see much of it on the cruiselines departing from the west coast with 4 or 5 days out to sea each way. Hope that helps...just be prepared for the free style type sailing and it should go smooth...food is replenished all the time so don't think you have to get there first when the entire ship is going to dinner...make reservations for the fine dining rest. as soon as you get on board to ensure you get the day and time you want..things like that can make your cruise sail much smoother!

We just returned from Pride of Aloha. I would not recommend this particular ship to any one. Especially a couple on your honeymoon!! It is not run the same as other cruises I have been on at all. The food is way below average than any other cruise I have been on including other NCL cruises. (THe Pearl.) I might try the newer ship if I were you. Although it is an excellent way to see and experience the islands, no question about that, I would not pick Pride of Aloha. We had a room on the 8th floor and you want a large bathroom?? I couldn't even shave my legs in this shower. This ship in reality dates back to the early 90's I believe and they are trying to pass it off as a newer ship. NOT at all. If you want to cruise, please choose a newer ship. This one is in need of major renovation. It is dirty and plus I got very sick the 5th day. That virus attack. Other than that Hawaii is a gem. Just pick a newer ship. Please. Do not honeymoon on this ship. Remember you get what you pay for!! Be careful. Read all reviews. I am not a picky person either but the food is also way below average than any of the other 9 cruises we have been on.

check out www.cruisereviews.com. We went on the Pride of America, and service and food were both poor.
