Cruising in Alaska w/ young kids
Hi,
We planned to wait until the kids at least 4 years old to take them to Alaska. However, we are getting itchy to travel there now and was thinking of going there this summer. After talking to couple friends who had traveled there w/o kids, the suggestion is taking just the cruise-- no Denali or Kenai Fjord. Or if it is too much trouble & little good out of it then we head out to Hawaii for the kids splashing warm water for now.
I'm seeking recommendation fr. your own experience w/ Alaska cruising w/ young kids either on Holland, Princess or Celebrity.
TIA,
K.

I agree, a round trip cuise would probably suit your children best since they are under 4?? You might want to consider NCL- with the Pearl, having Glacier Bay. The freestyle works well with kids, unless you want to spend most of your dining in the buffet?? Which also is very good??
Fixed extended meal times is probably a less desirable option, since I would suggest you be well prepared to exit with unpredictable toddlers?? With freestyle, your time is when you want it and most always have the option for a table by yourselves.
As for tours- plenty to do in port that is kid Friendly, I wouldn't plan on any extended several hour tours, with no way out however.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. For meal time, it may not be too bad; grandparents are coming with.
We may not be able to have formal dinning together. My kids normally behave well at the restaurants if we can get the early slot. We are pretty good of taking turn to keep them occupied then my parents exit after 1 hr; I then take time to complete my meal peacefully. But it would be a handful w/ a 10 mo old.

)) We, however, can never predict how it could happen w/a preschooler ( w/o a nap).
I thought Princess offers free-style dining on the Golden in the Caribean.
