Yes, Mary. The Century IS 6 years older than the Infinity. I still enjoyed her. At the end of October (2 weeks after I sailed) she was heading to Freeport, Bahamas for a week of dry dock. From what I hear nothing major, just carpet, etc.
I can't compare her to the Infinity because I have never sailed on that ship. Take Peter's suggestion and check out CruiseCritic website. You might even wish to attend a get-together on board your next Celebrity sailing with the great people you meet on that website.
Another fact about the Century - she is Celebrity's "crew school" ship. This is where they learn from the master from the cabin stewards to the dining room staff. The service on this ship gets the highest of the Celebrity fleet and Celebrity is the highest of the major market cruise lines (regardless of what Paul says).

You will have a great time.

And when did I say anything negative about Celebrity Peter?

And who are you to say that Celebrity is the highest of all the major market cruise lines. Highest in what? And what is a "major market." Is that like Stop and Shop.

Paul

Paul, its not that you've said anything negative about Celebrity, but of the "big five" (Carnival, Princess, RCCL, Celebrity and HAL), you would rate Carnival the "ovarall" best. I would rate Celebrity the "overall" best. Simply a difference of opinion.

Peter, did your data-base break? I never said Carnival is better than any other cruise line. I defend cruise lines in general since I believe they are great way to spend a vacation. Now call me a few choice names and you will get Fodors to delete the entire thread.

Paul
