First of all Carnival offers Lobster on every sailing ever 3-4 nights. The other cruiselines do not.
Carnival seems to have more variety and better food than RCCL currently.
Also their cabins are much larger, entertainment is better.
The reason, they have more $$ than other lines due to sound management and business decisions. They also refurbish their ships more often

We sailed on Carnival Jubilee in June of 2000. We are late 30's early 40's. There was only drinking of coffee because its cold up there. Most of the people are oooollld, with walkers and canes. Bad entertainment because the ports have no way of flying entertainers in and out.But it was still worth it because it is gorgeous up there ,, would go again in a heartbeat!

Gee, and I thought the entertainers traveled with the ship.

Todd:

This is a free country and website (message forum). Paul T. can come and go as he pleases, just like you do. I enjoy reading Paul's threads as he has had alot of experience being on all cruise lines, not just Carnival. If you have something meaningful to add, it would be great, but if not, why ruin it for everyone else? You must have a very miserable life.

Wow -- I just discovered this board in the hope that it would provide some useful information on cruising. I'm pretty disappointed. What's with all of the stupid bickering? Geez....Paul, I don't know you from Adam (or Todd or this Peter guy) but in my opinion, you seem to have some good information and have traveled many of the major lines. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's...and I'll take if for what it is..an opinon. I can take it or leave it, right? Why all of the hostility?

I liked my cruise on Carnival. I also liked my cruises on RCCL and Norwegian. To respond to the original poster, I did not have a substantially different experience on Carnival from the ones that I had on RCCL and NCL. I found no greater percentage of "partiers" on Carnival than on the others. Perhaps this "party" image is simply a hangover from previous times (and prior marketing efforts on the part of Carnival,) but these days, all types of people cruise all of the lines...there just isn't that much differentiation anymore.

Pick the itinerary that interests you and then research the daylights out of the ship that you'll be on....make and informed decision, and you'll be just fine.

Stephanie P. I believe my comment about Carnival was quite positive.

I find Paul's commentary objectionable, because of his obvious bias. Also he has recently slipped in one of his posts, by stating that is what he has read. So he may not have the great experience he claims to have, and is only regurgitating information from somewhere else.

And actually my life is quite good thank you. I would say you are the one with a negative attitude.

To Marie: I've sailed Carnival six times now, including the Triumph and enjoyed every cruise.
You stated "Carnival gave us a 20% off letter to make up for the atrocious condition of our Cat 12 suite last year on the Triumph. 50% off wouldn't be enough to get me near that ship again".

Marie, I think I met you! You were the lady at our table who sent back everything you were served while our waiter bent over backwards trying to please you. You complained the meat was too rare and its replacement was too well done. You treated our waiter as if he was your slave and not a fellow human being. You spoke at great length about what you found wrong with everyone on the ship. You found fault with the entertainment and the Cruise Director. You found fault with the weather and stayed on the ship at each port because you didn't want to be bothered by the tourists and the locals. Then on the last day of the cruise you made sure to rationalize why no-one on board should be tipped because of the way they treated you.... especially because you paid for the most expensive cabin, excuse me, "Cat 12 Suite" on the ship.
Well, let me say this. I sat at the same table and enjoyed every bite of the food they worked so hard to bring me. I appreciated that I didn't have to clean my room for a week, I was delighted with the preformers in the show and took pride in them in the way one of their parents might as they watched these young people try their best for me.
It's been said here many times before Marie, if you expect to be treated like the spoiled Princess you think you are then take the money you spent on your "Cat 12 suite" and see if they will even let you on an upscale line for the same price. In the mean time, learn to be thankful for what you have.

Alan has it right. What is nice about a forum is every one posts their own opinions. Some opinions you can take with a grain of salt because you know that person has never sailed the cruise line. Just like the caption of this thread ... teenie heard it from "someone."

The only negative re Fodors is that it has many posters that are extremely insulting to others.

Kinda like when you tell people that they must be wrong about comments they have made concerning CCL. Right Paul. I'm sure people love to hear that you are always right and they are wrong, even you where not on the cruise they went on. Must be nice to have such omnitient qualaties.

Actually no. They are filled with all the garbage you have been slinging lately. From telling people that their lives are in jeopardy if they don't use a sanctioned off shore trip of the cruise lines, to telling people no one under 25 can book a cruise, to telling people that they check age for security reasons, etc.... You just can't make enough mistakes can you? I really hope you are a TA and you tell your clients these lies as well. Then they can drag your misinformed rear into court.
