Will Hurricane Lili ruin my Bahamas vacation next week?

I am so looking forward to the warm blue water and gentle tropical breezes but I'm afraid that Hurricane Lili will be in the area and my only lasting memory of the Bahamas will be a wet one.

I didn't take the optional protection plan with the travel agent. Am I screwed?

Well you take your chances when you travel to a destination that is in the hurricane zone. This is the height of the hurriane season!

As long as she doesn't turn directly north, you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Most of the storms keep a northwest track, so just keep monitoring her and hope for the best.

Debbie: By Saturday, Isadore should just be a memory in New Orleans, hopefully without any serious damage. Enjoy your trip to the Big Easy.

I would rethink your trip to NO this weekend. The storm is expected to dump 10 to 20 inches of rain which will mean major flooding and disrupt everthing in the area.

Keep posted to the www.weather.com and www.hurricanes2002.com for more info, but I would not expect the airlines to be flying into NO this weekend.

Good luck.

On the Bahamas front, Lilli is expected to head in that direction, but hopefully it will turn and head out to sea.

I looked at www.hurricanes2002.com a few minutes ago and I believe there are now storm warnings up for parts of the Bahamas, lets just keep our fingers crossed.

tweedy

Debbie: The worst of Isidore has passed through New Orleans, and yes, there was some flooding of the interstate and low lying coastal areas in the outskirts of the city. The water is starting to recede, and a beautiful weekend is in the forecast. Airlines will resume flying into New Orleans sometime today. I would say by Friday it will be mostly business as usual for the city.
