Where would you go?

I need honeymoon help. I've got a budget between $6000-$8000(preferably closer to 6). I'm looking at the Caribbean or Hawaii. I'm not looking for a lot of nightlife, sightseeing, or kids. Just a pretty beach, ocean view, good food and relaxation. We may not even leave the hotel grounds, except to eat. The negative on the Caribbean is hurricance season, but I'm willing to risk it for the right place. Where would you go with my budget?

Aruba rarely gets hit by hurricanes, and it has a very nice Hyatt and a newly refurbished Radisson. We went to Paradise Island at the end of August-16 years ago and had great weather. So, it really is a crap-shoot as to the weather. So, if you forget about weather, St.John is supposedly a lovely island with beautiful beaches. (Caneel Bay hotel). Bermuda is also a lovely island and I have been there many times. The Reefs Club is a small, intimate hotel geared mostly to adults, has a meal plan- (breakfast and dinner), it has a pool and is beachfront. A more full service hotel would be the Southhampton Princess. I have been in Oct and the weather was wonderful! Bermuda does not have a lot of nightlife and is very well known to be the honeymooner island. The town is cute and this is a very safe destination. If you go to Hawaii, you must sight-see! Sorry, It seems like I am rambling. Look into Bermuda. Most places have a meal plan so you will know most of your cost upfront. It really is a pretty island....

Caneel Bay Resort on St. John is very quiet and on a beautiful beach. St John would be a wonderful place to start your marraige.

I totally agree with Rbee. St. John has everything you are looking for.

I posted a few photos from our last trip at http://mysite.verizon.net/vze1mjgx/stj/stj.htm

My Friend, go to Providenciales in Turks & Caicos!!! No cruise ships go there and the beaches are AMAZING! The snorkling and diving is insane...as well as the fishing.
I am booking yet another trip there with my entire family in a killer 5 bedroom Villa with a pool for just $4000 for the week...Oh yeah, the Wife thinks it's the Best island in the Caribbean that we have ever been to! And we have been to a few.

If you are looking for somewhere in US$ 6000 - 8000 then I would go to LaLuna in Grenada W.I - try this website...

www.laluna.com

Spectacular place and a very safe island with everything you need but a whole cultural experience. For information on Grenada and Pictures of La Luna go to www.grenadaexplorer.com

Congratulations on the wedding and honeymoon!

Turks & Caicos looks nice. Where's the best place to stay there? Do they have good restaurants there? How'd you find a 5 bedroom villa for $4000.

Laluna in Grenad looks great too. What else is around there? Are there other restaurants near there or is the one at the resort the only one. What's the best way to get around...rent a car? or taxi?

I think that you can walk along the beach to the Beach House Restaurant from LaLuna. Lots of other restaurants within a quick cab ride away. Also, less chance (no guarantee) of a hurricane in Grenada. T&C's are great too, and we found it a little easier to get around as the driving was easier. If it were me though, I would go to Grenada. Of course Barbados is another choice too - like you don't have enough decisions to make on the wedding!

I've seriously considered Barbados, but don't know where to stay. I really like the look of The Crane, with it's large open bathroom and the private pools. But I've read about the construction and only 1 restaurant, although the 2nd one may be open when we would be there(Sept. 5) I also like the look of the Fairmont Royal Pavillion. Is Barbados where I should go, or risk it and go somewhere like Jumby Bay or Four Seasons Nevis.
