Where to stay on St Thomas without kids
Hi, My wife and I want to go to St Thomas the first week of August. Since we are leaving our kids with Grandma, we want a nice resort with minimal kids. We are mainly interested in relaxing, snorkeling, some shopping, and more relaxing. Any recommendations for certain areas we should stay and specific motels? Thanks

I would stay away from the Ritz Carlton. It is not up to par as far as most Ritz Carltons are and it is quite a ways from the majority of shopping and night life.
We found that as soon as the cabs found out where we staying they tried to charge us much more than the going rate. It got very irritating.
Hope this helps some.

Hi there,
It would help if we knew more about what you are looking for in your resort. My favorite is Secret Harbour....great beach...good snorkeling.....excellent restaurant...large, well appointed rooms....beachfront. But it is a condo type resort and not a place you would go if you want to sit in your room and order room service. We always go there in August and it is usually very quiet. There will be families there, but it is not kids oriented and doesn't have a "kid's club" like some of the other resorts.

My hubby and I just spent a week at the Ritz last month and maybe we had beginner's luck but we only saw two kids the entire time we were there. Both were probably around 6-7 years old. We did not see any kids at all on the beach. They were probably doing organized activities in the RitzKids center for much of the day. I did see one of the kids in the pool once, with his nanny. I saw the other one once at the beach grill eating lunch with her nanny. The parents were probably relaxing quietly on the beach with their Pina Coladas, which is where we were also!
