Cuisinart - Anguilla
I am thinking of going with my wife to Cuisinart Resort in Anguilla either mid-November or early to mid-December. Any advice on which is preferable? Does anyone know what watersports are included? Are there good but reasonably priced restaurants on the island (don't mind splurging once or twice, but not all 5 nights)? Finally, general impressions of Cuisinart and Anguilla? Our other choice appears to be the Westin on St. John but this sounds much nicer. I am looking for a quiet beach vacation in a somewhat romantic place.

Cuisinart Resort & Spa is perfect! I was there a few weeks ago. I could not think of one think of anything to add or change at this resort. I was so impressed with the resort's facilities!
The long stretch of beach is beautiful and there is only one other small hotel at the other end with nothing else in between.
A few Moderate priced restaurants we went to this trip:
Smokie's, Tasty's, Johnnos' & Mango's
This was my second trip to the tranquil island of Anguilla. It is the kind of place you love more each time you return.
Though St. John is beautiful. The Westin would not be my choice and is not comparable to Cuisinart on any level.
Enjoy!

I just got back from Cuisinart a few days ago and I have to agree that this is a truly fabulous resort. The rooms are gorgeous - early am's out on the balcony were wonderful. The bathrooms were huge and well stocked with lots of goodies. The spa was wonderful - had a massage and facial. The beach is great but the pool is also fabulous and hardly person ever in it. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming and many knew our names. The only negative comment is re. the food. Our package included 2 dinners and I thought the food was overpriced and not up to par with the other great restaurants on the island. Lunch on the other hand was good (but expensive) and breakfast (included with room) was fine, not great. They recently hired a new chef and maybe down the road things will improve but they still have a way to go. Overall, I would give Cuisinart a rave review and can't wait to return.
Have fun!

Thanks! Two questions -- 1) Were any watersports included in the price or was everything extra?, and 2) Did you fly onto Anguilla or take the ferry from St. Maarten? Whichever you did, was there any reason you chose the transportation method you did?

Water sports were minimal but I believe they were included. Didn't indulge because one of my travel companions had a broken leg.
We took the ferry over and it workedout great. Got thru St. Martin airport quickly and cabbed over to the ferry. It was just about ready to depart and we hopped on while they handled our luggage. Ride was smooth and we were at the hotel by 2pm and on the beach shortly after. I don't do small planes so for me this was an easy decision. On the way back the ride was choppy and I felt seasick. First time in my 3 trips to the island. Once I got off I recovered quickly and would do the ferry again.

My fiance and I are going to CuisinArt for our honeymoon in two weeks. I believe that most of the watersports are included (costly activities like scubadiving, however, might not be - I'd check the website), as are yoga, pilates and other land activities.
I've heard nothing but positive reviews. Check TripAdvisor for some. I'm a little nervous about the ferry because I get seasick, but otherwise I can't wait to go.

Hi Europewith kids !
If you have not yet, you might want to take a look at Caribbean-on-line.com, the Anguilla forum.
it is a very active board with lots of experts ;-) !
Matthew posted a lengthy trip report about his honeymoon at Cuisinart.
Definitely worth the read !
I think the posting was yesterday...but very current.

Thanks for the advice. I just went and read his very extensive report. He reports the beach being windy but another poster responded that he or she goes to Anguilla in November and the beach by Cuisinart is usually quite placid.

I know ;-) ! There are advantages to being able to research the way that we do these days...and, of course, the disadvantages of then having too much information.
*I* think it's important to find the place that suits most of your needs/wishes and then take that leap of faith
!
The best part of being on Anguiila, is that if *your* beach is windy or cloudy or too rough...you can always find another
