easy connections to st maarten?

we're honeymooning in may. we have been graciously given a week at my fiance's aunt's timeshare for our wedding gift. we have chosen to stay in st maarten. we have 4 days before we can check into the timeshare and i'm unsure of where to go.

we've talked about antigua but how easy is it to get from there to st maarten? i looking into anguilla because it's only a ferry ride away, however the hotels are really expensive there.

any other suggestions? we don't want to spend more than $2500 for the 4 days including food. plus we're concerned that it's going to be expensive to be flying all over the carribean (not to mention take away from our relaxation!)

thanks in advance,
danielle

Actually, Anguilla is perfect, some resorts are expensive. The Fragipani Resort is highly recommended and beautiful, right on the beach. I have seen it but have not stayed there, but everyone that does raves about it. Also you can dine on Anguilla very nicely for nto a lot of money, just like the resorts, there is something for everyone and everything is great!
Anguilla is a good choice because it is an easy ferry to Blowing Point. Car rental is not expensive and recommended so you can visit the beautiful beaches and meet the nicest people. Also renting a car is much cheaper than a taking a cab and it is very easy to get around - a jeep is not needed since the island is flat, all you need is a toyota corolla (we rented one last year ang got around just fine - they are everywhere).

Here are some websites to help you check out prices of Fragipani and restaurants: www.news.ai and www.travelhop.com - you can actually see Fragipani's rooms beach, restaurant and pool. You will love the Fragipani, I have read that the owners go out of their way to make things very special - give it a look! If you are interested, there are so many places to eat and get groceries and gourmet take out, you will have no trouble on your budget.

I have to appologize for my spelling.....horrible. I spelled th anme wrong its FRANGIPANI BEACH CLUB. My brain is fried. Their website is www.frangipani.ai/...you will find it beautiful and the rates very affordable, and it includes breakfast.
You can also do a search here and read the reviews.
Sorry again for the spelling

Anguilla is a GREAT choice -- the ferry is a $10 ride (plus tax) & gets you from St. Martin in 20 minutes. If you go to www.news.ai & click on "hotels" you will find that they're listed by price & have web site links. There's also a restaurants link that tells you about the menus -- you will love the beaches!!!

I'm actually reading a novel about Anguilla, which is written by Melinda&Robert Blanchard: A trip to the beach. Read this book, it's a must, if you're going there! You'll get an impression, how beautiful and special this island is. The Blanchards are running a restaurant on Anguilla.

A Trip To The Beach is not a novel but a first hand account of the Blanchard's move to Anguilla to start their restaurant. The book was an interesting read but I found dinning at their restaurant to be a bit of a let down. The food was average at best, the service poor and the prices were high. To be fair the Blanchards were "off-island" when I dined there so that might account for the under par performance. In my opinion, there are many far better places to eat on Anguilla. I'm sure others will disagree.
