Where to go for calm water?

Hello all. I am looking for input on a trip please.

I am trying to narrow down where to go for a trip. One of the most important aspects of where we go is calm water with a beach that has shallow water to swim and play in. With that in mind which choice is better - St. Croix, Aruba, St. Thomas, or St. John? I am also open to other suggestions.

Thanks so much!

The waters around St. John are very calm except in winter season.

I second the suggestions above. We have traveled with toddlers to St. John, Jamaica and Provo, and in each place, found lovely beaches with calm water and no steep dropoff. In St. John, our favorites for the kids were Maho Bay and Francis (sp?)Bay. In Jamaica, we rented a villa at Silver Sands and loved the beach there. In Provo, we rented a villa on Sapodilla Bay with a private beach. While we did not find the island itself to be beautiful(very scrubby), we loved the villa and beach.

Thanks so much for your help. The shallow water is for adults who love the water just not huge crashing waves.

I will check out all of the suggestions above.

in that case anywhere on grace bay beach on provo would be great for you. all the resorts are directly on grace bay beach which is almost always calm, as it is protected by a barrier reef (which cuts the wave action to almost nothing).
most of these resorts are condo style and very nice.

St. John is good. Anguilla, Turks and Caicos have shallow and calm waters as well.

Secret Harbor, St. Thomas is very calm, and we found the waters on St. John to be outstanding.

Another suggestion is Shoal Bay West, Anguilla. One of our favorites because of the water and alot of other good things.

You all are the best! Thank you so much for the help. I will look at all of your suggestions but am already thinking that many of the places on Grace Bay look like they are exactly what we are looking for. I really am interested in Point Grace Resort.

I may have other questions so you may see future posts from me.

Happy travels to all of you and many thanks.
