What to do/see

Hi everyone. I finally booked a vacation to OCW for myself (32 y.o female),& my sons 15 & 7. Now is there anything or anywhere you recommend going to see or do? I know there isn't much to do on the island, but just figured I would ask so we don't miss out on anything. I have been wanting to go to Turks and Caicos for years and now that it's booked I can't wait! We leave April 19-26. Does anyone know if there are computers for use at OCW? Thanks.

Here's some of the excursions we did on T & C:

Caicos Adventures Semi-Sub - nice overview without getting wet. Lots of kids on the sub.

Middle Caicos Tour with Silver Deep - It goes to Iguana Island. There is an extra $5.00 p/p charge to tour the Island. Then a hour and 15 minute boat ride to Middle Caicos to the Caves. Next to Mudjadin Beach for lunch, swimming and snorkeling. Next, we went to a reef in the open water by a shipwreck for snorkeling. The last stop was to a beach for shelling.

Reef Peepers Sunset Cruise - This was a glass bottom boat. They also have day cruises. We saw 2 nurse sharks sleeping, which was pretty neat.

Sun and Fun Guided Jet Ski Tour - This was so fun. Don't know the age requirement to drive the jet skis. We rode across to the South Side (I believe is what the guide said) He took us to a beach cave. We got off the jet ski and saw a toad fish swimming in the water. We went up into the cave where there is a wood and rope ladder to climb on top of the cave. Very nice views of the surrounding beach and water. Next we headed to a beach with shallow water to look for starfish. That beach had the clearest water and whitest sand I have ever seen. From far away it looked like snow.

Sail Provo Full Day Snorkel with Lunch - First stop was Iguana Island. Then several stops for snorkeling including inside the barrier reef. We also stopped at one beach area to look for sand dollars, and, another beach stop just for swimming. On the way back to the Marina, we saw two dolphins following the boat.

We also walked down to Coral Gardens for off shore snorkeling

hi melinda, you are headed to my favorite island.
the excursions are great. especially middle caicos. you boys will like the caves.
you might rent a 4 wheel vehicle for a day and drive out to malcolm road beach. very beautiful and good snorkeling. take plenty of water and a snack as no services are out there. (well you could eat lunch at amamyara for a couple 100 bucks)
also go over to chalk sound. the color of the water is gorgeous and one of a kind.
the boys might enjoy para-sailing (at least the older one - not sure about age/size requirements) and they have banana boat rides.
you should be able to get kayaks though ocw.
you can ride horseback down the beach.
the sharkbite restaurant has a few video games.
tiki hut is a fun restaurant and has bbq chicken/rib night on wednesdays.
hemingways is good for lunch.

Thanks for the replys! I am so looking forward to this trip and sounds like some fun excursions/day trips! Do you recommend that I rent a car for our stay?

We did not rent a car and later wished we would have. It's not convenient to get around without one. There are taxis, but the Gecko bus is no longer in operation.

Before you go, check out
www.WhereWhenHow.com
click on excursions, restaurants, etc.

You could order a copy before you go, help plan your trip. You can pick up a free copy everywhere on the island (including the airport when you land) and pick up the companion dinning guide magazine. Or you could subscribe, tell them you need the first one before you get down there, after, your subscription will help keep reliving the vacation.

The website also has links to everything T&C.

The companion dinning guide lists all restaurants and menu, so you can start getting hungry:

www.WhereWhenHow.tc

Have a blast!

We usually rent a car for at least a few days and go to the restaurants furthest away on those days. OCW does have computers in the reception area for guest's use.
