Four Seasons Nevis - Day Pass?
My husband and I are renting a villa on Nevis in November. We wanted to stay at the Four Seasons, but it was just too pricey. Does anyone know if they offer a day pass so you can take advantage of their facilities, beaches, etc.?

The Four Seasons is pricey because they want to keep the resort exclusive for their guests. However they do offer a Day Pass to use all their facilities at a cost of $300US per day. FYI - you can play golf at the Four Season by just paying the Greens Fee (about $175 per person) or play tennis for their usual court fee (sorry don't know how much).
You are better off walking down the beach a few hundrd yards to Chevy's and Sunshines were you can use their beach chairs - just buy lunch or a cold Carib as a way of saying "thanks" - it's the same beach.
You can also use the facilities at Oualie Beach without a fee and Nisbet will sometimes accomodate non-guests if the resort is not too busy (just ask at the beach bar).

That's a hefty fee to use the 4S. We go to their shops, have a drink at the bar and head down to Chevy's for good food and free chairs. Have done Sunshine's, too, but understand that it was torn down to relocate a few weeks back. IMHO, the service at Sunshines blew and the food was ok. You are paying for a definite name. Again, my opinion...sorry to the Sunshine fans.
Oualie Beach is another great suggestion. Friendly staff and great food. Restroom available. Nice.

Sunshine's is "back in business" a few hundred yards south of his old location (right next to Chevy's). He has a "temporary shed and tent set up while his more permanant structure is being rebuilt (it's the old Golden Rock Pavillion building.

I also recommend Chevy's Beach Bar. Breathtaking view, friendly staff, delicious food and have a "Pink Panty" cocktail.

I asked (on the st. kitts/nevis tripadvisor.com forum) about visiting the 4 Seasons while on Nevis and there is no fee. As long as it's not a busy holiday the bar, shops, and restaurant are open to visitors. May need reservations for dining.

blue_water - you are confusing two different issues. Yes, you can visit the Four Seasons and have lunch without paying a fee - we do this all the time (except when the resort is fully booked). You cannot, however, use any of their facilities (lounge chairs, towels, showers, pools, children's club, tennis courts, golf, etc.) unless you pay the Day Charge.

Alas, Golden Rock Pavillion is closed. Word is they may build a new "pavillion" further down the beach but right now they have to wait until the government brings in more power and water lines. How long that will take is anybody's guess.

I had heard that Golden Rock had to close their beach pavilion. My wife and I are very sad! It was the perfect "cheeseburger in paradise" spot. She, of course, would get the lobster roll, but I was always content to have my cheeseburger and a Carib (or two, three, I forget) and watch the boats go by.
While the food may be the same, the location, while very beautiful up on the mountain, is quite different.
Sadly,

You can always tell if the 4S is closed to the public if they have a guard in the guard house at the main road. When the hotel is booked up with their paying guests they close the property to be sure they have the facilities to take care of the paying guests. If you were staying at the 4S and paying their prices you wouldn't want the hotel full of day guests. If they're not full they welcome visitors. There is a day fee for using the facilities but dining and bar service is available. The idea is that if you spend $ you're welcome, whether it's a day fee or a restaurant tab. The resort is usually closed to the public during the holidays: Christmas, Easter, Spring Break... In November you will have the Thanksgiving Spurt of business and then a lull until Dec. 20 when the Christmas/New Years guests start to arrive. Dec. 20- Jan. 15 you can expect the resort to be closed to outside guests.
