Wedding at Anacona/Grace Bay Club

Does anyone know where to get information on getting married at GBC/Anacona?

We actually just returned from TCI (ENGAGED!!) and while there we briefly read something that you could rent Anacona for a private party/wedding. I have searched and searched the Web with no luck.

Any ideas??

Thanks!

i think this will be a spectacular place for a wedding. are you thinking of asking all the fodorites?
i'm going to an island wedding on st. thomas the 13th to 22nd, so i'll post a trip/wedding report when i get back.

What a stinka! I had typed a response and the darn computer went wacky!

So, now the short version...
We got engaged at Anacona during the sunset; the Sunday of our arrival. It was romantic, beautiful and took my breath away!

I have actually since the original post been able to find a Wedding Coordinator (nilavacations.com) - She seems to have done quite a few weddings in TCI, including at Anacona.

We shall see how this goes...keeping my fingers crossed that it is not toally outrageous. We are in the process of gathering information for a destination wedding .vs. an at home wedding.

Look forward to your trip report/wedding report.

have heard good things about beatrice at nila. the cost is why the st.t wedding happened. it was to be on the cape, full dinner at a club for 150+. st.t will save the bride a boat load. and you will be surprised how many of your friends and family will be thrilled to pay for a mini vacation so they can join you.

First of all, congratulations!! How romantic. We Stayed at Grace Bay Club for 8 nights last month. While we were there, they had a wedding on Thurs, Fri and Sat. Saturday was one of the owners wedding. All were different, and all were very beautiful from our perspective. The one on Saturday was handeled by Shamieka, who works at Grace Bay Club. I am sure if you contact GBC, they will be able to accomodate you! Please keep us posted, us hopeless romantics (me) love these kind of stories...Carol

Sorry to rain on your parade but I just wanted to make sure that you know about the construction going on around the Grace Bay Club.

We just got back from T & C a week and a half ago and I remember saying when we saw GBC that if we were staying there we wouldn't be excited considering you're paying high prices with construction to the right and left of the hotel.

Yes, I am very aware of all the construction. We were there last week too.

We are not getting married until Jan/Feb 2007...leaves a lot of time for GBC to shape up ;-)

beachluver, of the 4 weddings you saw -can you share some of the likes/dislikes you saw? please if we end up deciding to do this...it will be a long 2 years for all of you

virginia,
that is great that you have heard good things about nila. that is comforting; seemed from the website she is very experienced.
i know that we will not have as large of a wedding if we decide destination, but we are ok with that. it has only been a week, and most of our friends/family we talked to seem up to it. (on the other hand, it can always change when the time gets closer). we are hoping that we would be able to afford rooms for the weekend or something for the guests. we want to see if we can go a little extra for the ones that will be joining.

aaaahhh...the research days ahead....

Hi again,
Yes, the construction should be all done by then. And lucky they did not make noise during the weddings!! The first one was very simple-- I loved that! They took a bunch of pictures on the beach at sunset. They left to eat else where ( I know because we ended up in the GBC Chevy Suburban together!) Next one, it was nasty weather, larger--bridal party, guests etc. She was so lovely. We were all in the bar area while they were trying to decide to go on with it or wait. We all cheered when the bride said this is the day she picked, rain shine or what ever!! We ended up getting room service ourselves, so after the actual wedding on the beach I am unsure what they did. Saturday was all afternoon of set up on the beach-chairs decorations the whole bit. Shamieka drove us that afternoon and had gave us the info of who it was for and that she was in charge. She was so nervous, wanting all the details to be right! That one was large, many of us discreetly stood afar watching, they had to wait til after sunset as they were Jewish. So it was real pretty. Large group, all went to The Lounge area for maybe an hour for drinks, then they were all going into eat in a more private area of Anacoana, that was when we were finishing our dinner, and left for our room. Honestly all 3 were different, but special. I suppose it would depend on how large yours will be, and I assume how much you want to spend. Something small and simple doesn't seem like it would compare to a large one at home. Since I have not priced it out, I am just guessing about that. I think it is the travel costs and rooms that would be the main factor.

I just put two and two together. I think we tried to make reservations at Anacona on the same Saturday this past month that the wedding beachluver saw at GBC. They told us that there was a private function that night and we were disappointed.

We did walk up from the beach on another day during our trip (May 17-24) to investigate a little bit and I remember thinking how pretty it would be for a late afternoon wedding.

I think it would be a perfect place for a destination wedding b/c it's an easy island for most people to travel to. Additionally, there is a variety of hotel options at different price ranges that are w/in a short distance from one another.

mah,
So, maybe we were they the same time! This was Sat April 16th. It would make sense, as it was pretty large. The rest of us in the dining area may have been guests of GBC.I think all 3 were great, and they were anywhere from 4-7pm, my favorite beach time.

Sorry that I said last month, here it is June already, and GBC was 6 weeks back now.
As far as rooms for guests, I think Royal West Indies would be a good choice if you are watching the price and want people near, but not right at the resort. Just a thought. Ohhh, I do enjoy the researching and am envious of you!!! have fun with it!!
