Weather ? plus other ?'s

I finally found an active board! Going to Alantis 2/27 - 3/3 with my sister. Current weather looks like rain and thunderstorms... isn't this unusual for this time of the year? We arrive very early Thursday but can't get room at Royal Towers until 3 I understand. Can we "check in" before then so we can get our wrist bands? If we wanted to stay an additional night, past our reservations, what's the policy if they are booked? I know in the states hotels can't kick you out. I know that sounds tacky... hopefully that won't be the case. One more question.... how's the Lazy River Ride? Thanks for any "heads up" info anyone is willing to give so we won't be surprised!

Yes, hotels in the states CAN kick you out. As far as extending your stay, I would make sure the hotel has availability before you decide to change your airline reservations.

Thunderstorms are not unusual for this time of year in the Bahamas.

Most resort hotels will store your luggage and have places you can change into your bathing suit so you can enjoy the resort amenities.

Again, I don't know where you heard the erroneous advice that hotels cannot kick you out but they can. Also, going to another country, if you try pulling "squatters rights" there is a good chance you will end up in jail.

Hello!
My husband and I just returned from Atlantis. We arrived around noon time and they were more than happy to let us check in early - just ask! As a sidenote, our flight leaving the island was at 4:00 pm, so we asked if we could have a late check out that morning, and they were more than happy to oblige!
The lazy river ride was fun, but the water slides were better (I felt like a kid again!).
As for staying an additional night, take GoTravel's advice to check ahead of time (this time of year is very busy at Atlantis).
I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Have fun!

Thank you for your reply! There were certain unique factors brewing which instigated my asking that question about the hotel. We had already asked the hotel to extend our reservations and have now received their reply that we can. WHEW! Sure wouldn't want to be locked up. Thank you for your concern. By the way, do you have any more "heads up" information about Atlantis? Thanks!

Well, it depends what your concerns may be...
We had a wonderful time. The only warning I may give you is the prices. People who are on a budget may not be happy as the days go by. But as long as you have planned well and have lots of spending money, you will be thrilled with the wonderful service and happy people.
There were two restaurants in Atlantis that my husband and I were impressed with - Villa D'Este and Five Twins. The service and food was outstanding (and we're tough critics). The comedy club was also worth the admission price, and the pina coladas on the beach were fantastic!
We also had fun in Nassau. We shopped all day and had a great lunch at Iguana's restaurant. Be sure to try their local beer, Kalik.
They Royal Towers is nice, not the Ritz, but nice and clean. We had a harbour view room which was fantastic- we could see the whole island and the cruise ships coming and going.
Boy, I wish I was there now...
I've braced myself for the cost... YIKES.... but, this will probably my one and only trip here so.... we plan to have a super time! I believe if you're going to an expensive place, and don't take enough $, then you're just asking for a bad time and service. I'm getting ready to leave in just hours - side trip to FL for a few days -then on to Atlantis! Did y'all have to ask for a refrigerator in your room? If so, any problem? Again, thanks for the information.
