Help, just received a free week at the Harborside Resort Atlantis
Hi, I haven't been to the Bahamas before and this was not a planned trip so if you could help with some questions that would be great.
We've been given a week in August for a 3 bed villa at the Harborside Resort. It will be me & DH and another couple. No kids. I've read there are many there. I also read that 5 nights is plenty, we've got 7.
So, being a free week:
Should we stay all 7 nights? Can we escape to pools without kids at Atlantis? Has anyone been deep sea fishing there? How do you get from the airport to the resort with luggage? Best restaurants (whatever price as long as great food)?
Thanks

You will have a GREAT time. The resort is so large that you probably will not feel like the kids are right beside you. Also staying at Harbourside you are a bit away from all the activity at Atlantis, but close enough so you can enjoy all the amenities and then get back to the quieter side of the resort.
There are several good to great restaurants on PI and downtown Nassau, and you might make reservations through the Atlantis consierge before you go, since alot of the restaurants get full quickly.
Also The One and Only Ocean Club is next door and has an excellent restaurant as well.
Dowtown Nassau, is Greycliff which is the only 5 star restaurant in the region. Service and food is amazing and I can HIGHLY recommend the lobster bisque. I had a hard time with not licking the bowl.
You can get a water taxi from PI to downtown Nassau for some siteseeing and shopping, and of course several restaurants and even fast food (well fastish, nothing is fast in the Bahamas).
From the airport take a taxi or check with Atlantis, I think there may be a shuttle. A taxi will cost you around $25. Bahamian money and US money are on par and you will get a mix of both whenever you buy something and get change back.
Also there is a departure tax of $18pp which you will pay at check in on your way home.
Have a great time, and let us know if you have any other questions.

As for the restaurants at the Atlantis...our favorite is Villa D'Este. We also enjoy the Bahamian Club and Fathoms. We found Five Twins to be over rated and didn't really enjoy our meal there. You can get a good inexpensive breakfast at the News Stand at the Hurricane Hole Shopping Center just down the road.

Thanks for all this info. I really appreciate it.(I love lobster bisque!)
Now I just need to find someone who's gone deep sea fishing out there. I think they can arrange it from Atlantis. I know the guys want at least a day of it.

With all the aquariums all around the Atlantis, they may not feel the need to go deep sea fishing, and quite honestly that area of the Bahamas is not well known for deep sea. Bimini is better known, no cruise ships in the waters around Bimini so more sealife. The Cruise ships are in and out of port all week.
You might enjoy a day off island doing a day trip to Harbour Island. There is a fast ferry you can take pretty close to Atlantis and you leave first thing in the morning and come back in the afternoon.
The website for the ferry is www.bahamasfastferry.com and a good website for Harbour Island is www.myharbourisland.com
Hope this helps.

I agree with schmerl. We loved the Bahamian Club at the Atlantis the most. Villa D Este was our second favorite. I also agree that Five Twins was overrated and the most expensive.
You will enjoy 7 free days. Just go and relax and enjoy!! Most people say that 5 days is enough because it is busy and it is pricey. So, just relax and enjoy your free days there. You will rack up enough bills in the dining rooms. The food is very good.
