Want info about accommodations in Dominica
My husband and I are planning a trip to the island of Dominica (not to be confused with the Dominican Republic) for our 10 year anniversary. We are looking for accommodation that has modern conveniences and at the same time retains tropical island charm. Our holiday needs to have some luxury to go along with all the activities and sights we want to see. Does anyone have any recommendations about lodging? We have looked into Jungle Bay and Fort Young Hotel. They both look good but we would like the opinion of people who have been there.

Dominica is a wonderful island, but I would not categorize any of their accommodations as "luxury". That's just not what Dominica is about. However, there are plenty of nice places with all amenities. Fort Young is very well established and just outside of town, gets lots of business clientele and repeat guests. However, if you wish to stay somewhere with character and a bit further away from Roseau, you could check out Papillote and Calibishie Lodges. A complete listing of accommodations in Dominica can be found here:

Great island - you won't be disappointed.

I think I stayed at the end-all be-all place: rootsjungleretreat.com
They feed you well, they are unlike any other place and you'll never be closer to nature than in the middle of the jungle with a river rushing right by you and birds and frogs going crazy the whole night and day.
