Vieques: Bravo Beach Hotel?

Hi,

Looking for advice/comment from anyone who knows anything about Bravo Beach Hotel in Vieques - or has any Vieques hotel recs to share. Had been planning a trip to France but with the dollar in the toilet and airfares in the stratosphere we're looking elsewhere...Thank you!

I've never stayed at BBH, though I have had the tapas bar there recommended to me by a friend. I like the look of BBH, but I confess it strikes me as a place that is more style than substance.

We went to Vieques in May 2006 and really enjoyed our stay at Hacienda Tamarindo. We had a lovely pool, gorgeous views, and we loved the many little conveniences there, like the full breafast included in the price, the honor bar system, the lunches they'll pack in backpack coolers for you to take to the beach, even the location to Esperanza was great.

We were in Vieques the first week of Nov. We rented a villa and found it comfortable, affordable and convenient. The security can be somewhat off-putting and it takes diligence. House of Waves (Casa del Marullo) [[email protected]]
The beachfront was wonderful. If you have any further questions, please post your email address.

Hi, Virginiafish,

Thanks for the post - just checked the gorgeous property you recommend but it's booked for our dates. A shame - what a find! Thank you for the lead anyway. We are now thinking of booking at Eva Mer, which has great tripadvisor revews and may be better for our needs...-mimi

Hi msm4, we were on Vieques in August. We attempted to have dinner at the Bravo Beach hotel and I was so NOT impressed. I don't think I would want to stay there. We rented an awesome place called the Palm Cottage. It is part of a compound with another cottage called the Pool Cottage. We loved it there so much. The property is owned and managed by two guys. They call themselves the Bravo Boyz. They own/manage many properties on the island, each of them nicer than the other. You can't go wrong with any of their properties.

If you want to see photos and read a trip report you can see my blog at www.maggiwun.blogspot.com.

News: we have just rented the cottage "Marisol" at Evamer cottages in Vieques for a week in March 2008. Thank you so much for the guidance, everyone, esp. the impressions of Bravo Beach Hotel. Now we are looking forward to reading all about this beautiful spot in the sun as winter settles in here in Boston... Will post a report when we return! Thanks, all.
