Totally Frustrated, Need help with airline vouchers!
We are having the most frustrating time, choosing a place to vacation using our Delta Vouchers (We received them after being bumped from a flight). 1) We would really like to vacation in Punta Cana, but was told we were told Delta does not fly to PC, 2) We looked in to Puerto Plata, also told the same thing, So then we moved on to Mexico, trying to choose between, with Ixtapa being our first choice, and once again, although we can fly there, we would have to change planes twice, and the fare in unbelievably high. Next stop, Puerto Vallarta, again, change planes twice, airfare price, over $800.00 per person. Our vouchers are good for $400.00 pp. Which really limits our choices in places to go, outside of the USA. With the so called, Delta codeshares, It was explained to me by a delta agent, that in order to fly a carrier other than Delta, it has to be a codeshare flight, again our chances are cut in half, and it looks like we will have to stay in USA.
Does anyone have any suggestions. We choose the carribbean/mexico, because we really wanted an all inclusive, and the Dominican Republic have really good deals, for the time period we want to travel (end of August).
This is so frustrating, and I really wish we had USAIR vouchers, at least we would have better choices of places to go. IF I could sell the vouchers I would.
Thanks for any help!!!

louise,
Actually for the Caribbean the best vouchers to have would be on American. However, Delta does have a decent network. Have you consulted a good routemap of all their destinations? or are you just calling with a slice of knowledge hoping they'll tell you all you need to know? I suggest you find out all the possibilities. I thought Delta flew to St. Lucia but perhaps thats has changed, that would be one place to consider. I beleive they also fly to Costa Rica, a wonderful place...for what you are looking for stay at Cala Luna in Tamardino or they also have good service to Bahamas out islands, Bermuda and more. I would investigate your possibilities further.

I don't know where you're flying from, but check into flying Delta into Montego Bay, Jamaica. Airfare there is usually lower than elsewhere in the Caribbean. From there you could ride to NEgril, Treasure Beach, Port Antonio, etc for a remarkable and unforgettable vacation.

Thanks for the replies;
I forgot to mention that we are from Philly. Airfare right now from Philly to Jamaica is $650.00 per person. We have also checked, Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, etc, and we found nothing under $600.00
The Dominican is the most favorable, with Mexico 2nd. Grand Bahama Island is pretty good (under $400.00) but there are no all inclusives there except, Viva Fortuna.

Delta has posted flights to Nassau, Bahamas from Neward for late April, May and June for around $300. Phila shouldn't be much difference.
There are several all inclusives, including RIU, Radisson, Breezes, Sandals etc, or you can use it as a jump off to another island.

louise1928, I saw this posted on the airlines board and responded there. To reiterate a little, capturing value from your vouchers doesn't mean limiting yourself to tickets that are $400 or less. If you see a $600 ticket to a place you want to go on dates that you want to go there -- and you can now get it for only $200 because you have the first $400 covered by a voucher -- then that may be your best move.
