Very Frustrated, need help with Delta Vouchers!
We are having the most frustrating time, choosing a place to vacation using our Delta Vouchers (We received them after being bumped from a flight). 1) We would really like to vacation in Punta Cana, but was told we were told Delta does not fly to PC, 2) We looked in to Puerto Plata, also told the same thing, So then we moved on to Mexico, trying to choose between, with Ixtapa being our first choice, and once again, although we can fly there, we would have to change planes twice, and the fare in unbelievably high. Next stop, Puerto Vallarta, again, change planes twice, airfare price, over $800.00 per person. Our vouchers are good for $400.00 pp. Which really limits our choices in places to go, outside of the USA. With the so called, Delta codeshares, It was explained to me by a delta agent, that in order to fly a carrier other than Delta, it has to be a codeshare flight, again our chances are cut in half, and it looks like we will have to stay in USA.
Does anyone have any suggestions. We choose the carribbean/mexico, because we really wanted an all inclusive, and the Dominican Republic have really good deals, for the time period we want to travel (end of August).
This is so frustrating, and I really wish we had USAIR vouchers, at least we would have better choices of places to go. IF I could sell the vouchers I would.
Thanks for any help!!!

Where are you flying from? Consider some of DL's other Caribbean destinations - Jamaica, St. Maarten, USVI, Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, Aruba, Turks & Caicos, the Bahamas or the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico (flying into Cancun). If wanting to stay at an all inclusive, I would look into Jamaica and the Yucatan coast in particular, as there are lots of choices here in various price ranges. August is low season everywhere in the Caribbean so you shouldn't have a problem finding good deals outside of the DR.

First, be mindful of the expiration dates of the vouchers. With that in mind, the fact that you have vouchers is pretty much a non-issue because you are using them just like money.
You can simplify matters for yourself greatly by getting off the phone and going online to the Delta website to research the destinations and dates that you like. Flights that can be booked on the Delta website are going to be Delta metal or codeshare flights. If you have plenty of time before you have to use them, then feel free to wait for a fare sale. Also, don't feel as though having a $400 voucher means you're looking for a $400 flight (or less). If you can knock $400 per person off prime, high-season tickets to a place that you really want to go and you put some of your own money toward those tickets, too -- well then, it was worth something to you, wasn't it? It captured some serious value.
Even if your vouchers can't actually be applied online and you need to call in to book, you can find exactly what you want and then you'll know exactly what to ask for when you call in.
Happy Contrails!

HI Louise,
I might be able to help if you plan to fly contiental. I also had a terrible experience and have a voucher that may be easlier for you to use than the delta one. If you are interested, email me: [email protected]
