Ti Kaye Village, St. Lucia
Can anyone tell me about their experiences at Ti Kaye? I've read positives responses on tripadvisor.com, but there is not a whole lot mentioned on these boards. Anyone have any first hand experiences they can share? We're going for our honeymoon in July. Many thanks!

i can help! i found very little info on ti kaye other than scubamom, and was craving more!! i wanted details. i think the reason for the scarce information may be that very few guests at ti kaye are american and this site seems to be frequented most by us americans. when we arrived, i think there was one other american couple there and by the time we left, there were 5 or 6. it was fascinating to meet people from everywhere. we loved that. back to when we were searching for where to go, ti kaye sounded exquisite and we wanted something small, unique and off the beaten path so i booked it for our 5th anniversary in december. this was our first trip to the caribbean and we went a little hesitant ... and oh my gosh. i cannot express how wonderful this place is. we were absolutely blown away. the pictures on the website, although beautiful, are nothing in comparison to the real thing. you will LOVE it!
ok, on to specifics for you. we arrived at night and it was amazing. giselle, who is super-nice, took us immediately to the bar to relax with a free drink while listening to the ocean, which the restaurant and bar are "hanging over". the restaurant setting is so romantic and beautiful, but SIMPLE and relaxed, not stuffy or fancy. that fit us perfectly. then she personally walked us to our cabin which was totally charming. the highlights of the cabin were the flowers on the bed, the huge hammock, the fact that it too was hanging over the ocean, the banana trees, the outdoor shower filled with amazing flowers, the simple decor and the closeness to the outdoors. we got a cabin with a plunge pool which was wonderful because we could spend the afternnon on our porch sunning and cooling off in the pool if we wanted!
we have never billed ourselves as "total beach people" so we booked the adventure lovers package and thought we might want to eat other places and explore the island a little. let me say that the more we did other things on the island, the more we wanted to get back to ti kaye. it was that wonderful. there is wonderful snorkeling right off the beach and there are sea "kayaks" that you can take and explore with. you can kayak out and find beaches and coves nearby that are very desolate
we're from atlanta and love really good food, so we lowered our food expectations a little since atlanta has great chefs, etc. once we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at ti kaye, we NEVER ate anywhere else. the food was so wonderful and there was plenty of selection.
the only negatives we experienced ... some disorganization in the activities we were supposed to do and the fact that cruise ships and sandals bring big flat boats of their people to the ti kaye beach for snorkeling, etc. it DEFINITELY says something about what they offer if they are bringing their people to ti kaye ... at least it is good people watching. and they don't go up to the resort or anything.
one more thing that is worth mentioning ... a great couple we met from NYC spent the first of their honeymoon at ti kaye and was spending the remainder at sandals st. lucia. they got to sandals and were so unhappy that they got most of their $ back and returned to ti kaye immediately! we ate dinner with them that night and heard about their "interesting" adventure there. enough said
i know this is long enough, but please email me if you have any questions i didn't answer! i love to rave about this spot...

Thank you for the info. We're really excited and cannot wait to be at Ti Kaye. Did you rent a car while you were there? I've heard mixed reviews. We're rather adventurous, but I don't want to feel unsafe.

St.Lucia is very safe and the people are very proud and morale...it is kind of strange they are almost sometimes a bit stuffy - but they definetly wouldnt tolerate common acts of violence against tourists...it is a strange thing I found the people much more formal than other islands. Very friendly but different. Re: driving odds are excellent that people wont hurt you but I would think twice about driving on those roads. I have driven on many islands in the Caribbean but after a day tour of St. Lucia I opted out of this one. The Geography which makes St.Lucia breathtaking makes it terrifying to drive on...very steep roads with small lanes and many many many blind corners...roads on the side of the mountains again blind corners and steep hills...but the worst part is that there - everyone knows (i hope)what they are doing so they fly past you on a blind corner, they cut corners etc.... just check it out first or take more of the less busy routes. I think they have also laid a little Caribbean highway or two that run through the mountains to prevent some of the driving madness.

Sorry, wrong choice of words. I don't mean we'll feel unsafe when it comes to crime. That does not concern me in the least bit. I was referring to the driving conditions. I don't want to feel unsafe while driving on those unpaved roads or sharp corners.
