Been to PR 5 times in the past 7 years. I'll try to answer as much as I can:

SCUBA
I don't dive but supposedly the best spots are down south La Parguera has The Wall, there is supposed to be some cave diving up North although it's not been discovered as much yet, and there is Mona Island just outside south west of PR...but there are sharks there. If you're looking for a sunken ship, I don't think there are any.

KAYAKING
Well, our favorite I must say is the Bioluminescent Bay in Vieques. One can kayak anywhere in the Caribbean and will pretty much experience the same thing. However, one cannot kayak anywhere in the world with glowing waters of the Bio Bay tour in Vieques. Make sure to night-kayak on a moonless night in order to experience it! Great tour, great experience!

BEACH (sj)
Best beach in SJ IS NO DOUBT THE OCEAN PARK (between Condado and Isla Verde). The sand is definitely whiter than Isla and a lot finer than golden sand Condado. Best of all, the crowd! There isn't the usual big noisy family tourist crowd. Ocean Park is for the single and couples. If you have a family, stay in Isla Verde.

BEST CITY
Here are our faves: OSJ (Old San Juan for the overall atmosphere and architecture and food, of course). Next fave city is Ponce (very nice people and a great Mexican restaurant, I cannot remember but it's the only most popular one there). Ponce has a fun pre-Ash Wed. Carnival. Another great city or place is Vieques, but supposedly Culebra kicks ass when it comes to comparing with Vieques. Have not been to Culeb, but Vieques has some great people, great beaches and just a great experience overall.

CASINO
The best for winning I'd say in the Intercontinental in SJ next to Wyndham. Played at the Ritz, although it's a lot quieter than other hotels, I didn't like the overall decor. The Wyndham has the best service between the three.

NIGHT CLUB
This will be a tough one because it's like going to a club in the U.S. Depends on your age, your type of music and crowd. If you are young, you might like Biba in OSJ by the Pier. Very very young crowd. Lasers is a mix of people but we never went in because the line was very long. If you are much older, the clubs in any of the big hotels in SJ are good, but the one in Wyndham does not allow Hawaiian shirts or gold necklaces (strict dress code).
My personal favorite is the little club/bar is Wyndham that plays live salsa music - what a place!

AUTHENTIC RESTAURANT
Our personal fave is Cafe Puerto Rico in OSJ Plaza de Colon. It's a litlle Mom and Pop place like that has terrific food and drinks! There are two Rum Punch special drinks and they are both excellent! Served with fresh fruit and one of them is spicier than the other. definitely not a lame place.

There you have it! Don't know if this helped you but if you need more advice, will be moer than happy to help you! Here's my e-mail: [email protected]

Thanks Katitchepoint and RedMaria.

Redmaria, your info is helpful. As far as nightlife goes,we're in our late 20's. I like high energy and also salsa clubs, and sometimes like to be around more mature crowds as well.

Can't wait to get there.

You said you are in your late 20s. You might love this place - I do! On Saturday nights, they play salsa all night but it's a fairly small place and it's crowded. Great singles and couples crowd and great lve music!

Rumba (Old San Juan)
152 San Sebastian St
San Juan, PR

There is no cover charge either!
