Surfside Beach Club, Bermuda
I've been looking at messages about Surfside in trying to make a decision as to where to stay. The messages all sound positive about Surside, but they are all at least two years old. Was anyone there in 2004. Just wondering if it's gotten run down or still up to par. The airlines offer great deals with Surfide always coming up as an option for hotels. The website looks nice. We're concerning a cliffside room or one perhaps down below the pool. Any thoughts? Anyone been there recently?
Thank you.

Carvan I have been a guest at The Surfside many times-most recently this past October. I really enjoy this spot, it is low key, great view, nice rooms,
nice staff. The Cliffside suites are new. The pool is small, but you cannot beat the location. It does have a small beach--that quite literally comes and goes with the wind! Just what are you looking for?

Thank you Penny. It's interesting to hear you say the rooms are nice; I was concerned because some of the comments on trip advisor.com are not good. They say the rooms are not well maintained, stains on rugs, outdated, etc. We would like a place on the water, smaller hotel rather than expensive large resort, some privacy and good value (but not to compromise less than clean rooms, old furnishings and run down hotel). Are there new deluxe rooms? We weren't really looking for a suite. Glad to hear you like it there, but those other messages made me a bit leary.
Thanks so much.

Carvan, no the Surfside is not run down, nor is it a 4-5 star hotel. It does have its own charm. The view is fantastic--one of our personal favorites!
Most of the rooms have new tile floors, and wicker ( I like the old English style furniture). Not fancy bathrooms-just plain ones like in an average home. Honestly I never stayed in the new Cliffside Suites, as I enjoy the other parts of the hotel. We stay at Cap Juluca, Jumby Bay, Caneel --and still enjoy this spot. You cannot beat its value. We are going to Cap Juluca again next month, and plan to return to Bermuda and The Surfside in July.
