Late Dec to mid Feb:
1)West Coast Puerto Rico/Rincon area
2)Long Bay/Port Antonio/Jamaica
3)Cabarete, DR/North Coast
No AIs generally .but you might find a cheapo package to DR (Puerto Plata - but stay in Cabarete, NOT Puerto Plata or Sosua which are both the pits)

hello passion4, i know that puerto rico and barbados both have a little surfing. but what you really want to do is the west coast of costa rica. world class surfing there. and plenty of surf schools. should cost less than the islands too.

Best intl. surfing scene is Puerto Escondido far south in Chiapas on Mexico's Pacific coast, if you want to broaden your horizons. Fly thru Mexico City -- the airfare will be the most expensive part of the trip.

I will second the motion on Rincon, a very cool, laid back vibe & apparently w/at least decent waves a lot of the time.
