I just happen to love airplanes. My wife likes Caribbean islands. Is there a nice hotel (where planes are visable) close to the airport at St. Maarteen that is also on the beach?

try Mary's Boon. it's a nice hotel on a lovely beach and right by the airport.

also at the end of the runway is the Sunset bar and grill. People hang out there and on the adjoining beach and watch the planes come right over their heads.
It's famous and a lot of fun, if you are an airplane lover.

The Horny Toad is also pretty close to the airport, though I can't vouch that you can see all the take-offs and landings.
