St. Kitts/Nevis
Hi
we are looking into possibly planning a trip this July to St. Kitts... my dilema, would you just stay on St. Kitts (Marriott) or split the vaction up and also visit Nevis (Four Seasons).
If we split do split up the trip (4 nights SK 5 nights FS) it will be about $800 more
Do you have any thoughts if this is worth it? Or would you just stay put on one island and not worry about the hassle of the ferry, departing froma different airport etc?
thanks all!!

Hi, well the ferry really is not a hassle - its a short trip - only 45 min to 60 depending upon which one you take. I think it is a hassle to pack and unpack, etc. but when I travel we normally go to more than one island per trip.
Nevis is smaller and much prettier than St Kitts.
I have stayed at both the Marriott and the FS. Both are very nice, but totally different from one another. I guess it depends on whether you want something really big (Marriott) or something smaller (FS) If you play golf you might want to do both so you can play different courses.
I prefer Nevis over St Kitts and normally when I am there I take the ferry to St Kitts just for the day.
Also, I have flown out of both, Nevis is easier because the airport is smaller and going through the customs deal is much easier there.
GL!

I stay on St. Kitts and visit Nevis for the day usually, so I prefer to do the oppoiste. The Marriot is BIG and the Four Seasons is beautiful. A few days at each place might be a nice way to get to know these two islands.
For more help, stop by another great forum where all we talk about is St. Kitts & Nevis.

It really depends on what you like but for me I far more enjoy Nevis to St. Kitts...Nevis has far more island charm, beauty, friendly locals etc. St. Kitts is great too, a wide range of things, not quite as pretty and lush as Nevis. I spend more time on Nevis than St. Kitts though both are great, depends on what you are looking for. The ferry is easy between the two or you can pay for the 5 minute flight, which isn't that bad and quick especially if you are staying in the north of the island, FS its a toss up between ferry dock and airport....personally if you can afford the FS and time is important then of course fly. Best of luck and have a great trip.

How are the beaches on St. Kitts? I've heard that there are a couple "decent" beaches on Nevis, one nice for sunning (Nisbett) and one nice for swimming (4S), but nothing spectacular. Do you get that gorgeous Caribbean white sand/turquoise water in St. Kitts?

While there are "light sand" beaches on St. Kitts they are nowhere near the sugar white sand you fine on the coral based islands like Anguilla, Aruba, the Turks & Caicos and the Bahamas Out-islands. Because of the darker sand and the steeper drop off near the water's edge the water surrounding St. Kitts (and Nevis) has more of a steel blue tint and lacks the bright tourquoise hues you are describing.
