I would check with the various agencies such as www.caribbeandays.com or www.carefreegetaways.com which will be able to tell you what is available and when may be a good time to check on last minute availabilities.

you should also look at caribbeanvilla.com they have many villas and only book st john and tortola. they were fine to work with last year. if you go the first half of Nov. you still get cheaper rates. You can also try vrbo.com owner rentals. these may have availability that agency homes don't. some of these rentals are resort condo properties and you get them cheaper thru the owners...

we will be 3 adults and interested in hiking and snorkeling. 2 of us have been there before, but it was about 30 years ago. most concerned about weather. interested in something close to a beach. a small villa/cottage would be preferable.
