St. John - Car/No Car??
Have 3 days on St. John - Nov. 20-23; staying @ Maho Bay Eco-Tents; Want to hike Reef Bay Trail on our own (not w/ NPS); go to Leinster Bay; Trunk Bay; explore Coral Bay/East End area one day; Can we do it without a car? Maho Bay suggests Fretts Taxi/Shuttle service, but wonder if the cost and inconvenience outweights jeep rental cost. Any suggestions? Is it necessary to reserve this time of season or can we wing it when we get there?

IMO you should rent a car/ reserve it ahead of time. St.John is a beautiful island with wonderfull beaches all around.....with your own car you can drive at your on pace/ no time restraints.since you are there only 3 days you will want to make the most of it.many times wehave taken a drive/packed lunch and when we saw a great spot we parked and sometimes were the only ones on the beach...we've been to St.John many times and still keep going back....... hope you feel the same !!!

We just returned from St. Thomas/St. John are last week. We rented a car and took it for the day over to St. John on a ferry. We had a ball!! For sure I would suggest renting when you get there for a day. Then you can really enjoy the beauty of the island like we did.
Take care
