No jackass, it's the only island in the caribbean where nobody has ever gotten sick. It's against local laws.

Have you considered how stupid your question really is? I mean everyone knows the reputation of Mexico, but to ask such a moronic question, how did you ever make it past the 4th grade? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there might of been just a couple people who have gotten sick on a few caribbean islands, but I believe it's only 2-3 people per year from all the islands combined. WAKE UP!!!!!

What the hell is wrong with you people?
She asked a simple question...either answer it with a real answer or just keep your mouth shut! Really, what possesses people to feel the need to make comments like the "author" of the previous post made?

As much as I'd like to make my own conjecture (dropped on head at birth, totally unloved and lonely, just an asshole)...I'll just let it go.

Get a grip, Got to be Kidding. Your pathetic self is showing...

now, prove me right and respond with some sort of sad and obnoxious comment on how I should shut up too...
I can understand perhaps where Sue may be coming from. She may have heard, or experienced, how often people can become sick in Mexico. She may have no clue if this is true of the rest of the Caribbean or even Jamaica. Maybe she hasn't traveled much. There is nothing wrong with her question.

Some of you people have got to stop jumping to conclusions. Usually there's a good explanation for anything, you just have to have an imagination and an open mind.

Thanks for the honest and "kind" responses! And in terms of "Got to be kidding", you are a very rude and obnoxious person.

And in terms of my education, I graduated from high school, went on and received my associate, bachelor and am currently finishing up my MBA...and I am working for one of the Big 3! So I am definitely NOT stupid.

My question was if anyone experienced an illness visiting Jamaica. And that makes me incapable of finishing school past the 4th grade?????

Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In response to Susan,
People who brag of their salaries tend to lying, and crying for attention. I make enough to be comfortable, and that's all that matters. You see, I don't judge people on their salary or wealth which appears to be important to you....don't worry, most snobby, stuck up bitches feel the same way....you are just common rich trash, that needs a good lesson in how attain class, and a touch of common sense. Money & wealth doesn't matter to me, be unfortunately dumb stuck up gashes with zero common sense like like you hit my weak spot.

Jamaica is NOT like Mexico or the Dominican Republic in terms of its water supply and tourists' propensity towards food and water-borne illnesses. The water supply is clean and safe, and you can drink the water right out of the tap without worry of serious illness. This is one of the reasons we like Jamaica so much (have been there 7 times and have never had any problems). However, water in ANY new place (including other cities in North America), no matter how "safe" the food and water supply, can cause some intestinal discomfort (or mild diarrhea)simply because of the fact that it is different from what your stomach is used to at home. Some people are more susceptible to this than others, and some are affected differently in different locations. While Jamaica has never been a problem, I usually have a bit of a funny tummy for a day or two in Paris, and hubby's tummy never agrees with London, Brussels, Louisville, and Seattle. We usually find that eating the local yoghurt wherever I am helps - gets some of the local bacteria into your stomach.

You might also be eating different or larger quantities of foods than you are used to at home, which could cause some gastrointestinal distress. Sometimes on Caribbean vacations people will consume twice or three times as much fruit and fruity drinks than they are accustomed to consuming, and then say that it was the food or drink that gave them diarrhea ... but if they ate that much fruit at home they would have the same problem!

As well, there is ALWAYS a chance that you can get sick ANYWHERE, including your home town, from food poisoning caused by improper food handling or preparation. So one could never say that no one gets sick in any particular location.
