Sandals vows renewal. What to wear?

We are celebrating our Silver Wedding by going for vows renewal at the new Sandals Grande St Lucian in the spring.

My problem (man) is what is appropriate dress. Should I take a suit or will trousers, shirt & tie be OK? My wife is wearing a fancy dress but I don't want to buy a new suit, carry it to St Lucia if it isn't appropriate.

Anybody offer any advice? Oh yes, and is a jacket required to eat at the a-la-carte restaurants?

Thanks for any information.
Martin

Leave the suit and tie at home! Maybe nice white or off white linen slacks (or any nice summer weight slacks) and shirt. Weather will be much too hot for suit and tie. Ties are not required in restaurants. Best Wishes!

You got some very good advice from Linda.
Be sure that if you go with linen (definitely in a light color) you don't get dressed early and sit around in them or they will look like you slept in them.
Look for them in a better quality men's or department store and get the lightest weight you can find. You should be able to find a really nice pair this time of year for $65 to $100. Also make sure your shirt is a natural fabric too. (They make nice nubby silk shirts or cotton.) I think one of the sexiest things a man can wear is pleated, cuffed linen pants with a nice cotton or silk shirt.
Definitely don't need a jacket or tie for any of the restaurants. (Just no shorts or t-shirts.)

Probably one of the most important is that you "match" your wife's attire. If she dresses formal, you dress formal. If she's casual, you be casual.

You will be a sweaty mess if you opt for the tie/suit or jacket. Go with the slacks/shirt look. I'm sure you'll look great standing next to you wife. At least you won't have the nerves of a newlywed!

saw a wedding on the beach at sandals and the lady wore a beautiful but simple wedding gown and he wore nice beige linen slacks and a white linen short sleeved shirt- pants were rolled up and shirt was out. They both had barefeet and they looked amazing. his outfit was breezy and sophisticated and the white shirt matched her white dress. It will be hot and humid so no tie or suit- you probably wore that the first time so when in Rome...

We stood in for a couple at Sandals Ocho in April and the bride wore a fancy dress and the husband wore cool dark linen pants and a cool shirt withthe shand up collar (like a tux colar but without the little flippy things where the tie is - do not know what this is called?!) Looked very appropriate and comfortable.

WE got married in JAmaica and beleive me - you do not want to wear a suite - you will be so hot.
