Go to Tripadvisor and read the reviews. We have not stayed there but have visited when we stayed at other Sandals. It looked OK, not as nice as Negril and a long way from Sandals Dunn's River, but it is quite popular and has a loyal following. It is where the chain started so it does have a special place in the Sandals family.

We loved Sandals MoBay. We were leaving one day to go somewhere and a car pulled up with an older couple. The bellman looked in and says "Welcome Home" and proceeded to hug them. I have never seen that anywhere else and it has stayed in my mind. No hassles, no headaches with the staff. It's an older property, but it is the flagship and just as in restaurants and other establishments, that "first one" tends to be perfect. Mobay is just that.

My DH and I stayed there in 1995 - so not exactly recently. We loved it! We liked that it was not too far from the airport; some of the other Sandals on Jamaica were long bus rides. There were many activities available - if you felt like doing them...and plenty of beach/pool/bar space if not. We had booked a junior suite and were upgraded to a suite that shared a small, semi-private pool with another suite. (My DH thinks it was because we were patient and put ourselves on island time as soon as the plane touched down - so many others rushed off and swarmed the Sandals rep. They ended up on a packed bus from the airport; we ended up in a car and were greeted with a red stripe while we waited for them to see which room to put us in). So maybe it was a "first visit" thing, or because it was years ago, but we did not notice anything bad about the resort itself (never ventured off property). The only thing we didn't like was the locals soliciting for hair wraps, etc from boats (they were not allowed on resort property).
We soaked up the sun and sand and had a great, relaxed time
Have fun!

For your needs it sounds like a no-brainer if location is your main criteria. Extremely close to the airport and very close to the concert venue. My only concern would be paying an all-inclusive stipend when you would be spending a lot of time off resort.

We have been to all the Sandals resorts...Sandals MB is the oldest of all the Sandals but it is very nice resort. They have been doing some amazing upgrades and is one of the most happening Sandals. It is a very fun resort and the beach is large and nice to walk. The panio bar after 10:00pm is awesome lots of fun! the food is great and the staff wonderful. The Entertainment is very good. We have stayed at this resort twice and its close to the airport which is a plus.

I'm still doing research, but I'm booked now.

Aside from the occasional travel snob or picky traveller, we chose SMB since it has overall the best rep. Even if going there seems to be a bit "campy"

I'll be sure to post a full TR when we get back!!
