How is beach at RWI? Is it less crowded than other parts of Grace Bay? Considering it over the Palms, concerned that the Palms is too overdone, formal, looking for a casual, laid back feel with beautiful pool, not too many kids, have to book this tomorrow, going first week of may, help!!!

Stayed at the RWI twice this past summer. Beach is quite and calm. Nice chairs and umberellas. Staff puts them out around 7:30 every day. Palms nice but overpriced (I think). Has friends who stayed at the Palms they spent most of thier time at the RWI. They wish they would have stayed there.

Question for Conch, if you don't mind me asking, why were your friends unhappy with the Palms and why would they have preferred Royal West Indies, the palms is rated 5 stars and the RWI is only 31/2, my agent can get me a very good rate at the Palms, don't know what to do...... the pool and beach at Palms look awesome, would not dine there heard it is very expensive, but would it not be a good base for my husband and I,the clock is ticking my agent needs me to decide, help......

the Palms is gorgeous! I do think the restaurant is good, but very expensive.
It is on a gorgeous stretch of beach (okay, they all are)
RWI is great for the money!!! It is one of the prettiest resorts, and it's at a bargain! It is quieter than the Palms, the Palms has been busy! The spa at Palms has to be the best in the world, it is incredible, so even if you choose RWI, spend the day at the Palms.

Blamona,
Thanks for your input as always, if given the choice with great deal on the Palms, which would you choose? If prices were very close, and how busy is it at Palms? Is pool area crowded, and beach?

Even when the beach is crowded, it's not crowded by other island standards. Plus you can always find a quiet stretch on it anyway.
I've already stayed at RWI, so I would have to try the Palms! The money is not going to be equal, Palms is way more expensive. I have to tell you though, when the Somerset opens, I would have to try that one first!
(Okay, I just confused you more)

hi belle, take a look at www.travelhop.com - you can see tiny movies of both hotels.
francine, i think i understand what you are saying about the marble and formality. i feel exactly as you do, i like the carib feel as opposed to the luxary feel. assume you have looked at www.thepalmstc.com - the lobby photo does look very formal yet peaceful i guess.
beach will be excellent whereever you stay on grace bay!! beaches resort is the only place that truly can be said to be crowded imho.
