Rooms at Atlantis

We're goint to the Bahamas in August and plan to stay at the Atlantis. For those of you who have stayed at the Atlantis, would you recommend the Coral Towers over the Beach Tower? I know that the Royal Towers is the 'best' but we're still trying to save what little we can (as I've heard that it will be $$ for food and other things there). THANKS

Coral Towers is centrally located between the Beach and Royal Towers. I've never seen the actual rooms in the Beach Towers, so I don't know if they're any different from the Coral Tower rooms. If there is a big price difference and you don't mind walking, stay at the Beach Tower. It is the furthest from the big slides, but if you walk through the buildings it's not too bad. The Beach Tower also has a nice pool and good beach access.

I haven't stayed in the Coral Tower, but I found the Beach Tower accommodations in February to be just fine - mroe than acceptable. For a normal healthy adult, the Beach Tower is only a five minute walk from the Coral Tower, so you really aren't that much further away from the central facilities like the acquarium, lagoon and slides. I'd say if you can get a better rate in the Beach Tower, the trade-off is minimal - all rooms look the same in the dark of the night which is really the only substantive time you'll spend in your room

Beach & Coral are great. I really recommend the new condos that were opened 1 1/2 year ago. You have a beautiful one bedroom condo, patio, full kitchen. Eating all your meals our gets expensive - we fixed breakfast and lunch in the condo (has its own pool) and the beautiful walk around the Marina (one of the best in the world - be prepared for HUGE yachts). Food is expensive, so consider the condos. (We even packed a huge soft side cooler and took frozen meats, cereal, condiments, etc.Just no fresh fruits or vegetables -against law). Across the street is Anthony's Carribean Restaurant - every good and less expensive. A world class resort. We will be returning this November for 2 weeks.

Those would be the Harborside Villas, but I think they are more expensive than Beach or Coral Towers.<BR>

If your going in August, which is a very slow time there, and you have booked a room in the Coral Towers, ask for a free upgrade to the Royal Towers when you arrive. You will probably get it.I did last year.

Just returned from Atlantis. I'm so glad that we chose to ignore the bad comments regarding the resort. The place is awesome! We stayed in the Coral Towers and we were very pleased with the room...clean, spacious, good air conditioning, good water pressure, firm mattresses...not one complaint! Our room was available immediately upon arrival and the complimentary refridgerator that I had requested was delivered to our room within 30 minutes of our checking in. I found the Bahamian people to be very friendly and helpful and the service in restaurants very deserving of the 15% gratuity. We enjoyed Murray's Deli the most (gotta try their hot turkey sandwich platter)....for a nice dinner without prices way over the top, try Julie's at the Sheraton next door....good Italian food and nice atmosphere. Their bread sticks are out of this world! I only heard one guest complain about the hotel service during the week we were there (I think that he was being very petty...)...everyone else was raving about Atlantis and said that they would return. Our kids said that it was the best family vacation they had ever had. We plan on going back...probably will try to stay at the Harborside Villas next time. They are beautiful. Yes, Atlantis can be abit overwhelming at first, but the palm trees, clear ocean water, frozen coladas, and live island music quickly washed away the stresses of daily life.
