With which island were you most pleasantly surprised?

As long as J is asking which island was your biggest disappointment, I'm wondering which island were you most pleasantly surprised with. Meaning, which island did you like more than you thought you would and why. Not spamming here, I really am curious. Thanks!

St. Thomas - prettier, safer, and friendlier than we had expected. Also less crowded than anticipated with the exception of a few spots.

Both Antigua and St. Kitts. I was prepared for lacklustre islands with poverty and unfriendly people and I got lovely islands, scenery, warm and friendly people and the experience of rich West Indian culture.

I loved Jamaica. I stayed in Montego Bay, but visited Negril. The next time I go to Jamaica, I will stay in Negril for several days and then go back to Montego Bay.

I was most surprised with Provo (Turks and Caicos). My boyfriend won a trip to Club Med Turkoise. Didn't do much research before, didn't know anyone who had been to T&C, heard so-so comments on Club Med's in the Carib.
Upon arrival at the hotel complex, we dropped off our bags, put on our swim suits, took a walk around the corner to the beach and ***WOW*** I've never seen such brilliant blue water and never felt such powder soft sand. Just to compare, we've done a good deal of Carib. travel-been to Aruba, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost, Dom. Rep., St. Thomas, Puerto Rico and St. Lucia.
Club Med itself was OK (hey, it was free). The beach more than made up for any shortcomings of the hotel.
We were VERY surprised that we liked Paradise Island after expecting nothing but crass commercialism. The only reason we went there the first time is because we were comped, and we ended up returning 9 times. Yes, it is very commercial, but we didn't expect the gorgeous beach and the wonderful service at the Ocean Club. I pictured Paradise Island to be something like the Jersey shore, but we ended up having some of the most romantic, peaceful vacations ever.

Dominican Republic! Miles and miles of powdery white sand and clear blue water! Some of the best I've seen in the Caribbean and I've been a lot of places! Also clean modern resorts with lots of amenities and great food!
