Hi cdt,
I'd be surprised if airfare or prices for accommodations comes down at that time. High season and all that.
Looking at prices now from expedia and other sites I think things are looking as good as they'll get. For example, I got quotes all within $100 for week long stays in Negril for early December, mid-January, early Feb and early March.
There is always a bit of a gamble when booking early or late but I'm pulling the trigger now rather than later.
Good luck,
mm

In the past we've usually been able to find some tolerable airfares in Sept. or Oct. for "high season" Caribbean trips.
Right now the prices from Albany, NY (our preference) are outrageous. If they refuse to budge, we'll drive to Newark or JFK. At the moment the price difference is about $270 per person, RT!

cdt,
Have you tried www.flycheapabroad.com? I bought my tickets for my trip to Jamaica last January through this website, and saved several hundred dollars. Air Jamaica was quoting me $616 per ticket, but by buying through flycheapabroad my tickets were $395 each for the very same Air Jamaica flight. Just a thought.
