Riviera Maya

I am trying to book a vacation for myself (32 yrs old) and my two sons ages 15 & 6. We love the ocean, snorkeling, relaxing, kids activities, good food, day excursions, etc. Would the Riviera Maya be a good choice? And if so which AI Resort? Thanks so much! Everything is selling out fast.

hi melinda, maya riviera would be an outstanding choice for you and the kids. more to do than you could ever possibly squeeze into a week vacation. as i assume you are looking at xmas or spring break (you mention everything is selling out fast) i'd book a place asap.
i would contact a travel agent or email www.locogringo.com with your budget and dates and see what they can come up with.
try for someplace near playa del carmen for central location to activites.
look at the trip research drop down menu for 'things to do' on the lg web site.

For snorkeling one of my fav spots is yalku lagoon early in the day. After that, spend the rest of the day at Akumal beach snorkeling. You'll love it!

You can also take the ferry over to Cozumel and spend the day at chankanaab park snokeling. they have a restaurant and lockers, etc.

Peace, Greenie

YOu don't say what caliber resort you want.
The Barcelo has snorkeling right there and a good beach. LOTS of activities....HUGE resort.
The Iberostar Resorts are all also great. There is the Tucan/Qeutzal which is close to Playa del Carmen. Then there are the Lindo/Maya and Beach/Del Mar which are all part of the huge Iberostar Paraiso complex. LOTS to do at all of these for you children also.

Thank you for all the replies...I will see what I can find available and let the boards know. Any more replies would certainly be helpful! Thanks! By the way, what is the weather there like in December? Thanks!

I was there during Christmas week a couple times and it was great. Nice and sunny and warm during the day. At night I needed a light weight sweater a few nights. It only rained at night while we were there.
