Restaurant Suggestions in Negril

Looking for some restaurant suggestions in Negril. Will be celebrating an anniversary while we are there... any suggestions on the best restaurant?

The Rockhouse restaurant is pretty good and so is the Mariposa - Italian restaurant.

If you're staying on the beach -- we recommend Normas. It was really good and is literally right on the water.

We found it accidentally while we were there on our honeymoon . . . then we went back to the hotel and looked it up in the guidebook -- it's rated very high.

Good luck and enjoy!

Higher priced (meaning around $30-40 each incl appetizers and a couple of drinks):

Rockhouse (cliffs)
Norms at Bar B Barn (beach)
Mariposa (beach)
Kuyaba (beach)
LTU Pub (cliffs)
Just Natural (cliffs across road)

Lower priced but delicious and laid-back feel:

3 Dives (my very, very favorite - www.maherconsulting.com/3dives - cliffs)

The Boat Bar (beach)

Jah B's (beach road across from beach)

I agree with all of Liza's recommendations but want to put a plug in for the Italian restaurant at Mariposa. One might tend to overlook Italian in the Caribbean but we had one of our best meals there. Toes in the sand, great service, quiet, a great glass of red wine and perfectly cooked pasta with very fresh ingredients. We were only there 5 nights and were very tempted to go back for another night - went to Kuyaba instead which disappointed me - service slow - even by Jamaica standards and the restaurant has a "fake" tropical feel to it and, IMO, overpriced. The snapper was not the best we had that week and there were toddlers running around playing on the bar swings.

I agree cartera....we had an awesome marinated cold seafood appetizer at Mariposa that I still think about, and the service there was very good.

We had a wonderful meal at Kuyaba two years ago and went back this past spring - not the same great food, higer prices and slower service. Maybe they had a chef/mgmt change?
