Best Restaurant on the Cliffs
We really need help! We had planned to have our wedding rehearsal dinner at The Rockhouse in Negril but we just found out that they are totally booked for the night that we need.

Are there any other restaurants on the cliffs that can compete with the ambiance, food and location of the Rockhouse? We will have 17 people.

Thank you!

Rent 2 vans/drivers and head for Culloden Cafe,an hour from Negril,in Whitehouse on the South Coast. Go for the day/there's a small beach or combine with exploring Black River/YS Falls, Font Hill for snorkeling, etc.
VG lunch/dinner -- old oceanside villa with whitetablecloth but casual dining in library, on terrace with great lawn stretching to a beach bar. Ann Lyons, the chef/owner is one of the best on the South Coast. See culloden cafe on web/the site's sketchy -- the food's FAR better than anything you'll find in Negril. And the prices are reasonable.
Wonderful desserts, cakes, too. Norma has also set up a new place at Sun/Sea Splash,we hear -- and she's always been a great cook. Norma's on the Beach in Negril, I think the name is...

Thank you Tiverton

You have some great ideas, however we are looking for something on the cliffs (we are staying at Moon Dance Villas on the beach and really want our guests to see the cliffs) and also we will be going to dinner after our wedding rehearsal friday late afternoon so we won't be able to travel too far if we want to catch the sunset.

Do you know of anywhere on the cliffs that is comparable to the Rockhouse?

See jamaicans.com/westside wanderings -- the negril crowd there would give you many suggestions. But don't do Rick's --it's a tourist magnet.
There's not much up on the cliffs where food is great. You might see if you could get THE CAVES tho for dinner only for 17...I'd still hold out for NORMA.

Gino's at the Mariposa is the best Italian restaurant in Negril that I can think of. It's not on the cliffside though.
But what you need to understand is that nowhere in Negril is far away. It's basically one road-strip and EVERYTHING is on it...it runs from the cliff side to the beach side.
Make sure to also stop at "Sweet Mango" for lunch. Have their Jackfruit-Papaya pie. IT'S THE BEST!!!! And their spicy tofu or the stew peas dish. Sweet Mango is a new restaurant. We were recently in Negril, starving and just happened to notice it. It's at "Rondell Village" and is worth a stop. You can also get a lot of local fruits there as well.
I also agree with Tiverton about Culloden. It's worth thetrip.

I really enjoyed eating at Sweet Bite on the cliffs on the same property of the 'castle'. Don't know the true name of the castle but you can't miss the fortress-like look.

Sweet Bite had a limited menue but everything was excellent. Awesome banana and ice cream crepes topped with chocolate sauce and Tia Maria. Wow!

Not sure if they can handle 17 people.

MM

Blue Cave doesn't have a restaurant unless thing shave changed since last April. They did have one long ago but it's been closed since at least '99, first time we stayed at Blue Cave.

"Sweet Mango is a new restaurant. Not sure if the Rondell village hotel has changed the name of its restaurant. The restaurant I'm talking about is across from the hotel. It's called "Sweet Mango" and it's a restaurant/fruit-veg-nuts and grains store. They serve only vegetarian food. And the food is absolutely the best!
Hope that helps.

Eric,

Although the interior is not as dramatic and beautiful as RockHouse, I would highly recommend LTU. It has a gorgeous setting on the cliffs, and the food ( went there last week) was quite good. The place had decent music and was highly recommended to us by several people we met on the beach, as well as locals. Congratulations and good luck!
