I am interested in T & C for a week long, family of four (17 and 15 year olds), vacation in march. We prefer a two or three bedroom condo or suite with a kitchen. A nice pool with a snack bar and drink bar and a restaurant. On the beach in the center of the "action". we like long beach runs and then hanging out, people watching...maybe rent a jet ski and snorkel. If the resort has a dive program, even better. We are not big on driving around site seeing but would rather walk to a different restaurant ofr store. Any suggestions? Not limited to T&C. We are willing to spend but not extravagant. Have done 7 mile beach in Cayman and St. Croix. Thanks for any and all suggestions

I have been to T & C many times but not in a couple of years. I can tell you a few things. 1) there were no jet-ski's allowed as they make too much noise and the loclas do not allow them and 2) there is not center of "action" as the Island is rather quiet. One of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world with incredible turquoise water. The diving is awesome! Get in touch with Flamingo Divers, a small operartor that gives fantastic personal service.

Most of the accommodations on Provo (T&C) are condo-style, rather than traditional hotels, so it's relatively easy to find a place with multiple bedrooms and a kitchen.

Hard to be specific without knowing your price range, but Coral Gardens is closest to shore snorkeling; others include The Sands, Royal West Indies, Ocean Club, Ocean Club West.

We stayed at Ocean Club West two years ago and loved it, but I understand there is construction going on nearby that can create noise problems.

All of these places are on Grace Bay, which is about 11 miles long and perfect for long beach walks/runs.

Provo has just a few places to snorkel from shore, but plenty of snorkeling and diving opportunities by boat.

Your question sounds exactly like mine four years ago. We have sucessfully enjoyed T & G since then. We have three teenagers and we usually stay at The Sands. It is within walking distance to many resturants, by beach or road. It has a great resturant on site, Hemingways. The Sands also has a very nice large pool, and one lagoon style pool. It has beach and pool service from Hemingways, or you can walk all of one min. and order yourself. Snorkleling is a 20 min. beach walk. There is a tour hut that can arrange fishing, jet skiing, parasailing, scuba, etc. I have seen people taking a course in the pool several times. Jet skiing is allowed on the other side of the island, but they will pick you up at the resort. Any other questions just ask.

While many people tend to suggest staying at the Sands, my husband and I stayed there this May and were not happy with their service. Housekeeping didn't come everyday until 4 p.m., and the customer service generally left a lot to be desired.

If I had to do it again, I would have stayed at Coral Gardens, which gets rave reviews. Apparently, Coral Gardens has excellent on site management that greets you upon check-in. This definitely did not occur at the Sands during our stay, and I would say that the absence of management was perhaps a major reason why the service suffered at the Sands.

you can rent jet skies at leeward marina on the east end of the island. i have no clue where they let you ride. not much has changed since sharkdiver49 was there. there is still no center of "action" or really much action period. provo is a very laid back island. it is not lush and is fairly flat, but is very beautiful to me. lots of good restaurants in all price ranges.
for diving i would Highly recommend art pickerings provo turtle divers out of turtle cove marina. most of the dive companies will come pick you up either by van or at your beach.

grace bay beach is 12 miles of the finest sand there is so i think you will enjoy long beach runs and since all the resorts are ON the beach you will find many places to pull over and hang out.

We stayed at Coral Gardens 2 years ago. Loved the clean, tiled large units with big tv's and nice kitchen. Each unit has a balcony with ocean view, 2 pools. The resort is small and quiet. The staff was very accomodating. On site beach cafe that we used for breakfast lunch and dinner. They will even keep the kitchen open late for late arriving guests. There is also a fine dining restaurant on site.
The best snorkling is right out front and I felt comfortable enough to snorkle alone at the of dawn.
Long white beach to walk, quiet BLUE waters.
It is not the center of action though. I remember as a teen, enjoying the nightlife of Cancun the most!!
