Questions about the Atlantis

Travelzoo is offering a good sale on the Atlantis so DH and I are considering it. I have a few questions:

1. They are offering meal plans which are fairly expensive. We usually prefer to sample the local cuisine instead of an all inclusive plan, but are there any good restaurants nearby?

2. They are offering the Beach Tower for $99/night. This sounds like a good deal to me, but is it totally run down?

3. How was your overall experience with the Atlantis?

All input is most welcome.

Thanks.

The Beach Tower would not be my choice. It is far from most of the slides, aquariums etc. and it is the oldest part of the resort.
The Coral Tower is in the center and the the Royal Tower which is the nicest.
We have gone both with and without the meal plan and did not feel the meal plan was worth it. There are plenty of restaurants in the area off the resort.
Atlantis is HUGE. We always enjoyed our stays, but not everyone feels that way.

Liked it beach tower is the older part but good for price.

Very Disneyesque to me had fun not true Bahamian experience

Chock a block with kids food meal plan way too pricy for me

Actually perferthe vibe of runawayhill.com

more Bahamian private islandcute perfect little pink sand

beach not too much more when you figure meals.

But for touristy experience atlantis.com was enjoyable.

Thank you both. We are still undecided as to whether or not we will go but this gives us something to think about.

We've been there many times and have enjoyed the experience. Yes, it is sort of like Disney (huge & busy), however I see on your profile that you like Palm Beach in Aruba and that also is a busy experience.

There is so much to see & do at Atlantis that you certainly won't be bored, but I've also always found a quiet corner of the beach or pool to sit and read a book.

The Beach Tower is the oldest, Coral Tower or up would be a better choice, but that price is inticing. It may be worth it to stay there. I'd like to stay at The Cove, but that won't happen unless I win the lottery!

As far as the Food Plan, I'd skip it and go on my own.

We've also stayed at Comfort Suites right across the street. You have full Atlantis priviledges and sometimes it takes less time to cross the street than wait for an elevator. If you ask to be close to the back stairway out, it's a short walk. They also include a frig in the room and a continental breakfast by the pool----not a bad deal. I don't know that you could beat $99 a night----that's a fantastic price. I may look into it myself.

There are good restaurants nearby, but not local food. To experience real Bahamian food, take a cab to the local Fish Fry and choose any restaurant. Try conch salad and Kalik or Sands Beer.

Beach Tower is very run down and a bit of a walk to the main areas. But, $99 is a great price for Paradise Island.

I've stayed at Atlantis many times and it is a great hotel with lots to do for every age group. I highly recommend it if you have tweens or teens.

My best advice is to stay at Atlantis Harbourside or The Reef. You can book through VRBO.com and save by renting through a private owner. These condos have kitchens which will save you a lot on restaurants. There is a grocery delivery service like Peapod in the Bahamas called FoodStore2Go. They offer hotel room packages that include water, snacks, fruits, soft drinks, etc. if you do stay at Beach Tower.
