Question about Gallows Point
For folks who've been there quite recently: What's the construction activity like in the area? Is one aware of it at Gallows? Can it be heard? seen?
Also: What's the condition of the units? (I know they're separately owned.) I've heard that many of the units are getting a bit shabby. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks so much.

poss,
I was hoping someone who had stayed more recently would respond. We went the end of March this year. The construction was on the other side of Lavender Hill, closest to town. We did not hear it from the harbor units, but were rarely there during the day and in addition, are not super sensitive to noise which you have indicated that you are. We didn't thnk our unit was "shabby", but each has their own definition of that.

We stayed at the Lavender Hill since Gallows Point doesn't allow baby.....
The construction is going on. Sometimes it would block some traffic and cars could only pass one direction at a time. But it wasn't so bad since we were out most of the time.
I felt (I can be wrong) Gallows might have more problems on parking. Personally, I don't like to put my car squeezed next to a cemetary. But, it can be just me.....
As far as noise, if we stayed at the Lavender Hill and wasn't bothered by the construction noise much, I bet Gallows Point would even be much less.
But I was more bothered by the ferry noise early in the morning.

Not sure what you mean by parking next to a cemetery. My memory is that Gallows parking is right at their own property-- the cemetery is down the hill a bit.
Still wish I could get recent feedback on the particular unit 3D. Despite what Marbleheadguy says, I know that some of those units are mighty shabby. I've seen them. And those upstairs bathrooms are about as cramped and unpleasant as a toilet room could be.
Gallows is fine for "what it is." As far as its being "the best on St John"-- that's very far from the the truth. We like the place, but there's nothing "upscale" about it. (except the views)
