We have been to Provo 11 times and the last 6 have stayed at Coral Gardens which we love. Check out www.coral gardens.com. E mail me for further info and pictures.

I was also going to suggest Provo and the Coral Gardens. While we did not stay theer (stayed at BEaches) we did meet the owner and toured the grounds and found it to be wonderful in every aspect. It is low key, prestine stripe of beach with a great underwater trail outside your door for snorkeling, the rooms and suites are beautifully done and private and the owner was really wonderful. A very nice place.

St. John. Just returned from having
wedding/honeymoon. First time there.
Would go back there and do it all over
again. Perfect island. Gorgeous
beaches. Nice people. Clean. Villa
is the way to go.

Stopped by Caneel Bay Resort although
lovely. Nothing can compare to a villa.

nancy

How about Point Grace on Provo? I was there last year and highly recommend it for a honeymoon. Largest, most luxurious accomodations I have ever seen. In my opinion nicest most upscale resort on Provo. Do a search to find my comments for more info. I also like St. John but not many resort choices if you don't want to go the villa route. Depends on what type of beach you want too. Provo one long 12 mile stretch of fabulous beach, St. John has many pretty smaller beaches. St. John is a prettier island, but to me the beach on Provo wins out. And however nice Caneel Bay is, the rooms in no way compare to Pt. Grace's. But not much to do on Provo so if you want to be really active, you might choose St. John cause you can also take the ferry to St. Thomas. Hope I have given you some useful comparisons.

Chris,]
Just got back from Provo and you asked a really hard one. My husband and I have been to St.John twice and Provo once without the kids and it is really a toss up. St.John is much more lush and green and the terrain in Provo is very dry, very arid, very rocky. There are so many places to snorkle on St.John, so many beaches easily accessed, to just drive to or just a short hike to. There are several at Provo, but more in number on St.John. The water is absolutely gorgeous in Provo as well as St. John. Both island have a very quite nightlife compared to many islands, Provo has many fantastic restaurants more than St. John. We stayed at Caneel Bay on St. John and found it to be super, the several beaches all around it are great for snorkeling and we stayed at Coral Gardens in Provo and found it to be super and most convenient to the one underwater trail/ snorkeling right in front of resort. The people who stay at the other resorts either drive or walk down to the coral in front of Coral Garden. Coral Gardens has a waterfall that falls down two of its three buildings and you have that sound of falling water, that is great/ Several stretches of beaches you literally have to yourself in Provo, but you can find that also on St. John if the cruise ships are not in, but on Provo that is not a concern thank goodness. One island is lush and green and one is very arid and rocky, I guess is the real big difference. Good luck and safe travel and a long and wonderful life together.

Just doing a search for villas with "Catered To" a villa rental company in St. John--the "Colibri" villa looked really nice! You can go into Google and type out "Catered To"--good information.
