Help Us Decide! Turks & Caicos or Aruba

We are trying to get away the second week in June. My Wife and I can't seem to make up our minds between gorgeous beaches or lots of activity. Need some help please.

While Turks has the best beaches we have ever seen (really incredible!), there is really nothing at all to do on the island to do or see outside or snorkeling, scuba, reading and relaxing!

Truely, you can walk for miles and be completely alone!

Too bad you can't wait until the end of June for an answer...

We've been to Aruba 3 times and enjoy Aruba a lot. We booked our first trip to T&C for the last week of June and can't wait. Aruba's beaches are very nice, but the pictures I've seen of Turks look like they can't be beat.

If you have any questions regarding Aruba, I'd be happy to help answer them. Wherever you decide, I hope you have a lovely vacation!

Linda :0)

Tough, tough choice! I love both islands. Turks and Caicos probably a little more laid back. Aruba a little more lively. Both have beautiful beaches and great snorkeling/diving. Snorkeling probably a little more exciting in Turks. Can't go wrong either way!

We have been to both Turks and Caicos and Aruba. Turks and Caicos is very quiet- one small casino and little nightlife. I made the BIG MISTAKE of staying at the Beaches resort. Should I return to Turks and Caicos, I would stay at one of the condo resorts such as Ocean Club or Grace Bay. Aruba also has beautiful beaches. Keep in mind that the water in Turks and Caicos is not the Caribbean but the Atlantic Ocean. Nonetheless, T&C ocean is stunning! Clearer than the clean waters of Aruba. Don't take this to mean that Aruba's water is not clear- it's just that I have never seen such crystal clear water as I did in T&C. That said, I must say that I prefer Aruba for its nightlife and things to do. There is a cute town in Aruba for shopping, EXCELLENT restaurants and friendly people. Also I was in T&C in June and it gets VERY HOT!! The breezes on the beach in Aruba made for pleasant sunbathing. So, I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Quiet beaches, early evenings and snorkeling or scuba- I'd say T&C. Active beaches, late nights, limited snorkeling and scuba- my vote would be Aruba.

Has to depend on what you want. I prefer the Turks and Caicos Islands and don't enjoy the casinos, chain hotels and commericialism of Aruba. Both can be wonderful destinations and it depends what you like. Definitely the nod to TCI for pristine quiet relaxation and gorgeous beaches, snorkling and diving and welcoming islanders. Go see Provo before it becomes any more developed and experience what Aruba was like 15 - 20 years ago with just a few resorts and not the crowds and excitement, Be aware that if you are traveling during hurricane season Aruba is less likely to have a strike but hurricanes can impact the entire Caribbean.

I have been to Turks & Caicos twice (Beaches) and loved it. This year we are going to Aruba. The only reason is cost. It is costing half as much to go to Aruba.

There seems to be more nightlife at Aruba, but you can't beat T&C for quiet, undeveloped land. It depends what you are looking for.

Marcia
