One night in St Thomas
Hi- I need to stay one night in St Thomas, then catch a flight out the next morning. Can someone please recommend a nice to decent hotel that is fairly close to the airport, or at least one in which a taxi fare would be reasonable? Thanks so much!

We enjoyed Blackbeard's Castle for our two night stay in St Thomas.
We had just been all over the BVI/USVI's for two and a half weeks and were looking for a place in town since we had spent so much time on the beach.
It's nice, safe, historic, reasonable and has an awesome view of Charlotte Amalie and a good restaurant. Sunset on the patio with some good wine was heavenly.
It is a less than five minute stroll to shopping and dining, and was about 15 mins. to the airport.

Hi Springy,
Here is another choice.

depending on when your flight leaves, your host may also be willing and able to drop you off at the airport.

The closest hotels to the airport are the 3 situated on Lindbergh Bay - Island Beachcomber, Best Western Carib Beach and Emerald Beach. These are modest, reasonably priced accomodations that would probably be fine for a one nighter. Of the 3 I've only stayed at the Island Beachcomber (before and after a boat charter). The place gets mixed reviews but I kind of liked it. It's just minutes from the airport. If I recall correctly, they had a shuttle to the airport and also ran scheduled shuttles into Charlotte Amalie.
You can check tripadvisor and wheretostay for reviews of all 3 properties along with other hotels on St. Thomas:

Hope this helps.
