New return date?

Just noticed this posted on caymanvacations.com

"The "official" view, is that Grand Cayman will be ready for tourists again by December 15th."

Tom, I'm a bit confused. I quoted directly from caymanvacations.com as posted today and it stated 12/15 as the return date. It mentions that while some places can be ready for tourists they are needed for islanders and workers. Is the gov't sticking to a 11/15 return date? Is the 12/15 just an opinion of this particular agency? Thanks for any info you can give.

Forgot to add that the Reef's website also states that 11/20 is the earliest date for return guests with the hope of Christmas having all units up and running.

I guess it really depends on where you are planning to stay. Many of the larger hotels/resorts will be ready, but those of us in the districts with little clout will not be ready by then. At our place (North Pointe) we thought we would have electricity this week, but heard today that it may be December.

Sue, are you sure about that rumor? Just yesterday, the CUC put out a map of the island and the North Side looks like it will be "energized" by the 17th (even after the delays involved with the underwater pipeline to Rum Point). It was originally set to start on Oct. 3rd, but hit a delay. Here's the link:

I got that info on www.stormcarib.com, on the damge report forum. Hope I'm wrong. Frank, the manager at the Driftwood, said the same thing to us yesterday.

Since I started this thread by quoting from another website it seems fair to now quote what's being posted one day later.
"The unofficial view, is that Grand Cayman will be ready for tourists again by December 15th, though a few resorts will be ready for tourists by November."

Sure hope I didn't get anyone into trouble by posting yesterday

UNCLE

The wording on the website changed yet again only minutes after I quoted it. I can take a hint. Still it leaves me wondering who to believe and what direction to take for our trip.
