Message: Where in the Cayman Islands should a family of four (kids 13 &14) stay with interest in snorkeling and diving, but also want convenience of easy food and other activities? I.e not honeymoon rustic...
Thanks.

My family, also, has a trip to Grand Cayman planned for Feb. I haven't been able to get a hold of Plantana, but supposingly they didn't have much damage there.
I was thinking of switching to T&C, but we had such a good time in GC, I'm hanging on.
Has anyone heard much about Rum Point, that was one of our favorite spots.

I'm not sure if you're looking for a hotel or condo. If you're looking for a condo type place, where you can cook, etc., then normally, I would HIGHLY recommend the Beachcomber Condos. It's a great place, in a great location. The beach is beautiful, on a quieter, less crowded section of Seven Mile Beach, with plenty of room to move (unlike the crowded Westin beach area!).
For a family, one of the greatest conveniences is the grocery store across the street, and the Beachcomber is also within walking distances to some decent restaurants (like Edoardo's across the street--awesome Italian food!).
Unfortunately, the Beachcomber was hit hard by hurricane Ivan, and I'm not sure when they'll be up and running again (Feb/March?), and I don't know when you were planning your trip for. They are keeping people posted on their website, which is: www.beachcomber1.com
For snorkeling, I would also VERY HIGHLY recommend Native Way Water Sports (www.nativewaywatersports.com). I never see them mentioned on these boards, and was therefore nervous about trying them (went on the insistence of a friend, who had used them before).
It was the highlight of our entire trip (we also had a 12 and 14 year old with us), and probably the most "value-packed" thing we did. The guides were awesome, you will really get your money's worth here, and they are actually cheaper than other snorkeling charters.
Do the full-day snorkeling trip which takes you to Coral Gardens, Barrier Reef, to Rum Point for lunch (awesome lunches there, and it's included in your price!), and then on to Stingray Sandbar.
Book them on a day when there's no cruise ships in town (like on Sundays). Your kids will have a blast, and they'll never forget it.
