very popular place. Go on to the Latin American forum and do a search on Moon Palace- there are loads of postings. We are thinking of going there ourselves and have spoken to people who have been- they raved about it.

My husband and I stayed there last December 2000 and loved it. The rooms are very spacious and well done. It is a VERY large resort and we would have preferred smaller. If you do the all-inclusive, you may find the food a little repetious (but I have found that to be the case at most all-inclusives in Cancun). We liked the location very much as it is out of the hub bub of the Hotel Zone of Cancun though not inconvenient. You can take the complimentary shuttle to any of the other "Palace" resorts then take the bus all the way in -- very easy to do and convenient. The buses run every couple of minutes up and down the hotel zone and cost about 50 cents pp. The Moon Palace is farther south of the hotel zone. If you like night life, you may prefer to be in the hotel zone where you'll find things like Planet Hollywood, Hard Rock Cafe, Senor Frogs, etc. We stayed at Le Meridian last July and found the food great, but pricey. The room was not as spacious as the Moon Palace, but more expensive. All in all, it had a good location in the Hotel Zone, but we didn't like the "very upscale" atmosphere as we're more laid back. In that, we liked the Moon Palace much more. We've been to Cancun 5 times so we must like it. It's inexpensive, nice beaches, good shopping (for silver jewelry) and fun and easy to get to. A wonderful day trip is to Xacaret -- offering underground snorkeling, wonderful island feel (it's an ecological park) dolphin feeding/swimming, birds, monkeys, etc.
No need to rent a car while you're there as the bus service is so dependable. We did rent a car while at the Moon Palace so we could travel south to Puerta Morelas and Playa del Carmen, but don't think we'd do it again. Our other fun day trip was taking the ferry to Isla Meujeres -- little island off coast. Had a ball renting the golf cart and going where we wanted. Not much to see there, but a nice little shopping area, some beautiful beaches with few people and a more "local feeling" than Cancun. Feel free to contact me if you need more info on something in particular. Enjoy!

We stayed at Moon Palace in July of 2001. The grounds were beautiful as was the room. The pool is amazing and most people spend the day therebecause the beach is not good. There is a tremendous seaweed problem here for some reason and the water is a murky green. We had a great time, but will head to Playa del Carmen next for nice clear water.

Thanks for the info everyone. Now I'm concerned about the beach as someone says its not very nice. I am a beach person more than a pool person so will i be disappointed?? Where can i get a beautiful calm white sandy beach in cancun?? Thanks!

Fiesta Americana is a great place to stay in Cancun. They have three covered tennis courts, two specialty restaurants, a cafeteria and six bars. All the rooms are luxury suites, beautifully decorated and with private terraces which have beautiful views. Several activities are offered at the beach, like waverunning, Windsurfing, diving and snorkeling. They have the white, sandy beach you're looking for and you could even snorkel right from their beach since it's protected by a coral reef. Enjoy your trip!!!!
