Just back from Abaco...
And had a wonderful time. We spent 4 nights at the Hopetown Harbour Lodge on Elbow Cay and it was terrific. Great food, wonderful staff, beautiful beach. We rented a golf cart to explore the island, and also spend one day sailing. Then we went to Marsh Harbour for a week which, compared to HOpetown, was like going to "the big city". Had a great time there, too, just relaxing...vegging on the beach, swimming, reading. Am already planning my next trip back to Abaco!

John, yes, we flew into Marsh Harbour (from Miami). The flight from MIA to MHH was fine except for the fear of being bumped. They always oversell the American Eagle flight, which was ok when they had 2 flights a day. YOu could get bumped from the first flight, get some compensation which you could use toward a future flight, and then get there later that same day. But when they announced they would be bumping 7 people from the flight, we were pretty worried since the "bumpees" wouldn't get a flight till the next day. Luckily for us, 7 other people were bumped. When leaving MHH we had to get to airport 2 and 1/2 hrs early. OUr suitcases and carryons were thoroughly gone through, which was ok. The worst part is that the airport there is just way too small to accomodate all the departing passengers.

Hi, Fran, it's Fran. The beaches on Elbow Cay were beautiful. I've never been to Eleuthera/Harbour Island so can't compare, but Tahiti Beach on Elbow Cay was gorgeous. We drove there in our golf cart and spent an afternoon. There were maybe five other people there. The water was warm, and as clear as gin. The beach at the Hopetown Harbour Lodge was also great. Hope this helps.
