Diving's pretty tame off Negril as the reef's been affected by pollution. The Pedro Cays area, about 2-2.5 hours by boat off Whitehouse and also Treasure Beach, offers the chance to explore Spanish shipwreck territory. No scuba facilities in these areas so you'd need arrange with a dive company in Negril with preferably also a local South Coast fisher who knows the waters. Pedro is also a major fishing destination with the small islets often 'outlaw' territory and rough...

Pedro Cays is a series of islands and shoals with dozens of old Spanish shipwrecks now being explored by licensed salvagers from the States. Some are stay=over points for fishers, some have a reputation as safe haven for 'bad boys' afoul of the law. It's rough and gritty -- not a place from a bodice-ripper romance novel, nor Pirates of the Caribbean. In season, thousands of seabirds nest on the furthest islets.
