inter island travel

Is it possible to do half of a vacation in St. Lucia and the other half in the British Virgin Islands. I know there are flights but I don't know how cumbersome it is to do this. Also - Antigua to British Virgin Islands? Is that easier because they are closer? Are there boats instead? We are trying to do one resort for half of our honeymoon and another for the other half. Thanks

That's exacty the same thing we're trying to do for our honeymoon. Either split the time between St. Thomas and St. John or St. Martin and Anguilla. Any help would be appreciated..

LIAT provides daily flights between all the islands. Their website is http://www.liatairline.com/. They have an island hopper package were for $199 off peak you can fly between any three islands. Check their website for schedule and routing. I have actually flown them many time. I am not sure if you can get to Antigua to BVI by boat. Hope this helps some.

Claudette,

Your options are much easier. There is ferry service between both island pairs you mention. Rather easy and inexpensive.

Anything is possible, it all depends on your budget and how much time you want to spend traveling. A common misconception people have is thinking they can take a boat or ferry from one Caribbean island to another. Unless the islands are really close to one another chances are there?s no regular service, as is the case between St. Lucia and Antigua or the BVI?s. If you wanted to go by boat from St. Lucia to Antigua or the BVI you?d have to charter one and be prepared for about a week of ?blue water? sailing ? great stuff if you are into open water yacht racing.

You can probably go by plane from St. Lucia directly to Antigua but probably would have to make one or two stops or plane changes to get to the BVI?s. You can check out flight itinerary options and prices on various travel web-sites such as www.expedia.com or www.travelocity.com.

If you are truly interested in island hopping during your honeymoon consider chartering a ?crewed? sailboat in either the BVI?s or the Grenadines. You?ll be able to visit one or two different islands each day, have plenty of time for swimming & snorkeling on your choice of hundreds of beaches, enjoy wonderful meals cooked by your own chef and have cocktails and watch the sunsets from a different location each night. Best of all you set your own pace.
