In C!stingray city or sandbar?

I read alot about swimming with the stingray on this board and had decided to use Captain Fosters. Now we are in GC and when I called to make the reservation found out he only takes you to the 12' Stingray city area. We are comfortable in the water, but are just snorkelers, not divers. Whick is better the deeper water or the 3 stop type cruises which take you to the sandbar. I need to make my reservations so any help is greatly appreciated. TIA

I can't comment on the 12' Stringray outing. The one where you walk on the sandbar to the Rays was a great experience, and the other 2 stops were also enjoyable. My friend, who was not an experienced snorkeller, was the first one off the boat to go play with the Rays. She lived in GC last winter, and said our outing was the highlight of her entire 6 months there. You will probably enjoy either experience. So with gusto and joy...

There's nothing like standing in the water with the stingrays swimming around you. Try Capt. Marvin's-you dive for a conch and get to keep the shell and go to two other snorkel sites in addition to the stingray sandbar and a stop for lunch. If you pay with cash you get a 10% discount.

Definitely recommend the trip to the sandbar ... also look into Captain Dexter ... we did the trip with him on his Catamarran a couple years ago and it was a blast. Only a small group of people; stops at the sandbar and also another offshore reef where the snorkeling was great.
